Re: Hidden Figures
Were you at Vue? The screen I was in still had seats left after the film had started, and some people came in really late.alythonian wrote:Other than the comment directly above I agree with you all. Great film, inspiring and well done. Thoroughly enjoyed and will be recommending.
Edinburgh was full by 6:02! I ran to get there and got th last seat. The oaps of Edinburgh love to queue early!
Really enjoyed the film - funny, moving, and educational. Agree about Jim Parsons and Sheldon though, I just kept thinking about that every time he was on screen!

Re: Hidden Figures
The problem with Jim Parsons is that he seems to be a rather limited actor. Whilst the film is about the three female leads, he is an integral character but because he doesn't convey much with his facial expressions, he comes across as quite Sheldonlike. He will become typecast very quickly at this rate.

Its like that so often, whenever there is a show at the omni, the queue is right across the foyer 30m before the film starts. Always feel sorry for people who arrive at, say 6:20, and struggle to find a seat then have to settle for the neck breaking front rowalythonian wrote:Edinburgh was full by 6:02! Screen packed at Ipswich last night, everyone came out with a smile and no one so much as coughed during the film!

Re: Hidden Figures
OH also felt it was sickly sweet but I loved it. Women in leading roles and a film I didn't mind Kevin being in (personally not a fan). Think the film is more empowering to women than looking at the latest Kim what's her face/pine end blog/vlog!
All this happened in my lifetime and I wonder what will be written about the time we live in now. Are women looked on as equals today? Unfortunately, I think not. Had 2 women talk to me about the way they were and are treated differently as engineers, appalling! Some men still have blinkers on as to what women can do. I hope they get taken to see this by their wives and recognise themselves in the characters...... but that's wishful thinking.

What's weird is it only ever happens at Omni, never any of the other cinemas here.fraz wrote:Its like that so often, whenever there is a show at the omni, the queue is right across the foyer 30m before the film starts.
