I've had a really difficult week for a number of reasons and didn't make it home until well after midnight due to working extremely late. Woke up today and nearly went back to bed, but managed to haul myself over to parkrun just before the run started.

I did sub-40. Now, I know that is a terrible time, but for comparative purposes, I haven't managed sub-40 since last June due to the bloody injuries I've been recovering from. And although I was dehydrated and tired and had a stitch, I ran the whole thing non-stop without any pain in my knee or ankle and got my time down to sub-40. I really feel like I am finally making progress and am on the road to recovery. o/

I know I'll be slower next week (because everyone is always slower when away from their home parkrun as they don't know the course) but I am so glad I bothered today as I hit my own little milestone. It means nothing to anyone else, but it's a big deal for me. Pleased as punch.

Have a good weekend everyone! o/

You are wrong there, asamaic -- IT IS A BIG DEAL to hear about your ParkRun milestone this morning. And doing it after such a late work night and recovering from injuries, well that is tremendous progress so well done! And I really admire you doing another ParkRun next week away from the comfort of your home course. Many congratulations and enjoy the weekend.

Well done asamaic that is one fabulous achievement. Don't knock yourself you are doing amazing. Wow you work late.

I am eating healthier and drinking loads more water. Haven't had much time to exercise as such but have done loads of gardening today, batch cooking (so I eat healthily) and painting again. I actually feel done in so will be asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow. With going to Leeds and London over the weekend I need to get seriously ahead with my organising.

In London I am starting of in Covent garden and will be heading off to the Virgin roof top gardens late afternoon. Does anyone know if Colombia Road flower market is miles away from Covent garden? Tried going on TFGL and once it said 1 hour 10 minutes then tried again and it said 34minutes  . If not too far I may go there before Virgin gardens but want to enjoy the experience not do my usual running from one place to the next.

The roof gardens are in Kensington (West) and the flower market is in Bethnal Green (East). Covent Garden is in the middle of both (Central).

It'll take you an hour to walk from Covent Garden to the flower market; half an hour by taxi or 40 minutes by bus.

If you must do all three, I would start with either the market or the roof top gardens - that way you're not doubling back on yourself!

I am meeting Canadian_turtle for brunch at Covent Garden at 11.30am so that is the only thing I can't change (never ever go back on plans plus really looking forward to it). Maybe too much doubling up so may save the market for another Sunday - a good excuse to come down again ;) I drive DD mad when I make too many plans for a day hence was told

I didnt know about the roof gardens, I didnt even know about the Sky Gardens if wasnt for our last fmuk con! Hope you enjoyed London stay, Diane and your usual epic (and fast!) walks

I have not been exercising for 3 days as I needed rest after a long run of squash, long walks and short burst runs. But 3 days rest is a bit too long as I feel lumbering if that is a proper description. I dont think I made enough progress to achieve my sub 30min goal for the parkrun but will be going for a run now and see how I feel.

Massive congratulations to MyLass and Asamaic on their early morning Park run in Leeds. We all definitely did our steps on Saturday - I know that Yogi clocked up 23000 steps and I went to exactly the same places so hopefully did a similar amount. I didn't actually have a pudding in Leeds  so unlike me but maybe the fact that the ever so trim Asamaic was sat opposite me.

Did a fair bit of walking in London on Sunday too. I went to Covent garden and had brioche with roasted peaches and ice cream so decided to then go to Colombia road market which is a bit of a trek from Bethnal Green but thought the exercise would do me good and then spent the rest of the day in Kensington (sadly the gardens were full so couldn't go in).

I feel really well for doing the exercise - brilliant sleep and even though I worked 8-6 today I am not tired. My legs on the other hand feel like they belong to someone else - I am walking like a duck.

Hope that this weekend has inspired us all.

I clocked over 27k steps on Saturday, 13k on Sunday and then today, I only managed 6k. Distinct decline. ;) I think my feet are broken. :p Very glad this is a volunteering weekend rather than a running one.

A friend of mine who hits the gym regularly (but who doesn't run) was looking at my stats for Leeds and suggested that my heart rate was too high. I don't really know how to make of this - my heart rate is what it is! I always feel like I'm dying, but I don't, and I had my heart tested a few years ago and it's absolutely fine.

Does anyone know owt about these theories you have to exercise at X % of your maximum HR? It all sounds like gibberish to me.

ClareBarr - we're doing Nottingham this time next year. If you're up to it, we'll see you then, otherwise that offer to catch up any time you feel up to coming to London is always open. o/

Thanks Diane and a huge well done to you too! Leeds turned out to be a huge physical exercise for all of us who went and of course you added to that further with your London trip! And as I said to you, you looked absolutely vibrant!

Diane, I know this thread is called the Weightwatchers but we made it into something more, spearheaded by yourself! This is about personal progression in health and fitness, regardless of what fitness stage we are at now. To encourage and support each other in reaching our desires and goals. Even model fitness stars like Angelina Jones, Chris Hemsworth and Asamaic always have room for improvement :) If anyone doesnt have room for improvement in their wellbeing than they have reached contentment...and that just seems wrong, that will be the day when life becomes boring!

So talking about progress: its two weeks ago since I suggested a return of the progress chart!

So Diane, you clocked up a huge amount of steps and didnt even eat pudding...um, why didnt you have your pudding?? That's supposed to be your reward! ;) I hope you had something nice in London. Eat healthily for the rest of the week, reward at weekend, ok? Dont forget your goal. Its on the progress chart...I took the liberty of entering it back since you declared it...you gave me permission so you cant get me off you back now

Asamaic said she shaved off 2 minutes off her previous parkrun...and I witnessed her moment of glory. Awesome progress and not only that, the Leeds parkrun turned out to be a challenging course...so she might have even shaved off more if was a flatter course. plus a whole days walking with Diane and Steve's epic Leeds tour...wow. So, Asamaic, is your next goal to shave off perhaps another minute in a parkrun, say 3 weeks?

As for me, I am absolutely chuffed to have also made the same progress, as I too shaved off 2 mins off my previous 5km run down to 34 mins. I didnt reach the overly ambitious target of 30mins, though. But progress is progress. And I have Asamaic to thank for her brilliant idea of a Leeds Parkrun to have as a goal.

As for my squash, I lost every bloody game in division one, which I had recently been promoted to. The simple fact is they are all miles fitter than me. I am clearly the fattest squash player in the division. With a couple of the players, I could take the first one or two games but then my fitness level fails me, precision is gone, stamina is gone and my opponent seizes upon me like vultures. So no progress there.

But now that the Leeds Parkrun has finished, I need a new incentive and goal. I have to leave my squash league now until September as my full time cricket season job commences. So what can I aim for now...Well thank you, Asamaic. You have inspire a new goal for me. And it will serve as a gauge in which I can monitor my fitness progress. No, not the 5km Parkrun in Nottingham next year, that's too far away although can be a long term goal in which I can maybe aim to achieve 23 mins which was my pb seven years ago! But thanks to this Leeds Parkrun, I want to start doing that again every week and enter 10k or half marathon events again. They were joyous days and I realise I miss that, having done this Leeds Parkrun. I really miss that vibe.

So my goal, is to achieve a quicker time than Leeds in a local Parkrun in two weeks. I shall update my entry in the progress chart ;) But I must try hit the gym or do strength/flexibility classes as running requires core strength and of course a lot less body fat than I am carrying right now. Otherwise I will subconsciously find myself munching jaffa cakes again...wait did I just write that aloud?

Well have a great healthy week everyone and congratulations again to Diane, Asamaic and actually, everyone who went to Leeds and did Diane/Steve walks! o/ o/ o/
