Goodbye Christopher Robin

Very lucky to have gone to the World Premiere last night at Odeon Leicester Square, thanks to sfancy. They had a bass band play to start the red carpet. Margot Robbie spent hours signing autographs and talking to the fans, and she looked liked she really enjoyed it.

The Director introduced the cast, after the Bass Band played again, and kept apologising for making us wait.

A really excellent informative film showing the background to how the books, Winnie the Pooh came about. As a fan of those books, it was one I really wanted to see and I was not disappointed, but what a back story! A charming and poignant drama. Great chemistry between Domhnall Gleeson and Will Tilston in his first acting role, as father and son. Margot Robbie is also brilliant as the cold, tactless mother and I really enjoyed Kelly MacDonald's heartwarming nanny. Bring your hankies. 10/10

Lovely film well acted and scripted. I found it totally engaging and the little boy was terrific. Definitely one to go and see. 8/10

After hearing mixed reviews I wasn't sure what to expect, but I really enjoyed it.

It's quite a sad story and there were plenty of sniffles in the cinema towards the end. The dynamics between father, son, mother and nanny were very interesting, influenced by the things like the times they lived in, class and the Great War. It was well played overall, but the chemistry between Domhnall Gleeson and Will Tilston is extremely good.

It's lovely to look at, especially the recreations of the book illustrations. Overall 8/10

bit slow but worth a watch, felt bad seeing parents dragging kids to see this expecting a winnie the poo movie...

I loved this. One of the most interesting films I've seen in a while and brilliantly acted by all. It's a wee bit diffferent and really enjoyable for it.

I wasn't really aware of the back story to the books but was amazed by what actually happened in real life. I was expecting and prepared for the usual filmic sugar coated Disney depiction of the story, but it turned out to be a lot darker. It was also weird with the Mother's choice of clothes for the boy, to the blatant disregard she had for the Nanny, to the strangely accepting parental relationship. I really wanted Nanny to adopt the boy in the end but that was never going to happen! Definitely worth a watch.

I've seen this twice in the past week and loved it each time. Same as others, I had absolutely no idea about the background story and found it so emotional. I loved the wee boy who played Christopher Robin(Will Tilston) at age 8 who was so photogenic. This is certainly not a happy film in the Disney sense but certainly tells a story I had never known about before. I have of course now done some research on the real story which this film motivated me to do.

the sadness of the War was touching but other than that this was all a bit emo for me. What a spoilt little kid, brought up with a silver spoon and everything and yet moaning about his dads one way of earning money.Not that his dad was any less silver spooned, doing nothing all day and having a massive house, housemaid and fame yet feeling hard done by. Go get a proper job and do the maids work yourself you Home counties muppet.

Its a well made film though and well acted.

I enjoyed this, what a shame for little Christopher to be thrust into the spotlight like that. If only they had called the character Billy Moon he might have been spared some of the frenzy.

Really sad to see, after two weeks of play and bonding while left to their own devices, AA regressed back into his normal, fractured self and fed his son to the lions at the beck and call of socialite Daphne (albeit broken in her own way following her husbands time away at war but still incredibly cold and selfish)

Despite everything, AA still showed his utter cluelessness by sending Christopher to boarding school as if it were a good thing. I'm glad they were able to build some bridges though.

Did wonder if the MIA army letter was just hollywood gloss to get the tears flowing. It did add a lot of weight to the final part of the film

I have just had my 3rd viewing of this and absolutely loved it even more than before . . .my feeling this time was that the film was charming and I could see very clearly why the young Christopher Robin had his particular animal friends. I would highly recommend it.
