What is this current trend for fly on the wall type movies with no actual story ?
Seems the reviewers love them
Examples ; The Florida Project & Call me by your name

Re: Films with no actual story
It's all a matter of personal taste, I loved both those films and think they both had beautiful cinematography and strong stories. I've seen them both twice now and thinking of going to see Call Me by Your Name for a third time.
But then loads of people love all the non-sensical action films with loads of action set pieces and no story. But I won't ask for them to stop being made as I know other people love them.

Re: Films with no actual story
There are films where u wish there wasnt a plot. Geostorm. In order to become next president of the USA... I kid you not... a guy starts a worldwide superstorm.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?
Re: Films with no actual story
Interesting discussion point, but I feel that you can still tell a great story without having a formulaic plot. For me, Call me by your name was possibly one of the best films I can remember seeing in the last few years, lovely story mixed with some lovely long lazy scenes of Italy in the summer, felt like I was there sometimes. Florida Project not for everyone but again, I certainly felt that it told a very bold and moving story.

Re: Films with no actual story
Happy Go Lucky has no real plot and yet it's the only Mike Leigh film I can stomach.
