Hi the Fox, can you tell me how near/far are Newark castle and Newark north gate stations to each other? Is it an easy walk?

I plan to travel late on the Friday, do the Forest Rec parkrun in the morning then join you for lunch.

I don't know Nottingham so may need a local to explain how public transport works... I haven't checked yet, but I suspect the park may be very far away from where you lot are meeting up.

I’ve never been to Newark on the train, but Newark is a small town in Nottinghamshire about 20 miles from the centre of Nottingham. According to Google maps the distance between the 2 Newark train stations is a 16 min walk

the fox wrote: For those thinking of the park run at the Forest Recreation Ground, Gregory Boulevard, Nottingham. the tram runs from town and stops at the Forest plus there are local buses that stop the other side of the Forest, it would be the same bus that passes the Cotswold Hotel. It is walkable from the House of Fraser end of town.
Once you know where you’ll be staying then I can give you a better idea on the bus or tram side of things.

In the meantime, the following links should help

Nottingham City Transport – (NCT) – https://www.nctx.co.uk/ buses pass near the Forest Recreation Ground roughly every 5 – 10 mins. You need to have exact money and you p*y on the bus.

Nottingham Express Transit (Tram) – http://thetram.net/tempting-tram-travel-offer.aspx there is a stop at the Forest Recreation Ground and they run roughly every 7 – 10 mins. You need to get your ticket before you travel on the tram, there are ticket machines on the tram platforms.
