Re: Coco Before Chanel
Screen on the Green must have the narrowest rows ever!!
I enjoyed the movie too. Coco Chanel was such an avant-gardiste. It's amazing what she achieved. Sharkgirl mentioned that she compromised herself and I thought so too but then as the film goes along you get to see that she was just doing the best she could with what was available to her! And about being in the right place at the right time, that's what opportunity is all about!! Audrey Tautou is an excellent actress, very versatile.
8.5/10

Re: Coco Before Chanel
I went to see the film at Screen on the Green, so I didn't even bother b*ying the Sunday times, since nobody ever checks anything. This time I showed my ticket, but the usher didn't even ask for the Sunday times page.
Anyway, the only reason that I went to see the film was that it had Audrey Tautou in it. I must admit that the film exceeded my expectations. My OH and I enjoyed it, although we're not at all into fashion. Audrey Tautou was great as always. 7.5/10

Re: Coco Before Chanel
Went to see this at the Belsize Park Everyman on Sunday. Gosh - I love that cinema. We had the special seats at the back which are about the size of my sofa, and when we discovered that we could press a button and have footstools, we were in heaven.
My partner scooted off to b*y us each a hot chocolate, and was delighted to have been told that everyone seeing the film could have a free drink.
We enjoyed leaning back on our cushions, and I took my shoes off and tried not to fall asleep.
Erm, the film was ok!
5/10
p.s Thanks to Phunkygal for the tickets

Re: Coco Before Chanel
Saw this at West India Quay (thanks Tufty for the tickets) and enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. Nothing wrong with the pace of the film in my opinion. Would give it a 7.5/10.
Bit weird in the cinema, suddenly the Transformers film came on at 6:15 for no apparant reason and ran for 5-10 minutes before being stoppped for the right film. Thank god I haven't wasted any time or money on that film, it looked awful!!
And there were lots of latecomers who stood around for ages looking for seats together and getting in peoples way as they stood in the aisle. If they wanted to sit together I'd suggest they arrive earlier than 30 minutes after the film has started.

Re: Coco Before Chanel
Wow - look how far this thread had dropped down the page since the first preview on Sunday 12! What about everyone else who saw it tonight, as I did? Well, I was relieved to enjoy it more than I had been led to expect by some of the comments here, though it was a little slow and pretty standard fare. OH had said he wanted to come with me, then decided he didn't feel well, so the 2nd place was wasted as it was too late to invite anyone else instead, but that said, it would have been even more of a squeeze as the attendance was the best yet for any preview I've seen, though it was a small auditorium. I'm always pleased to see Alessandro Nivola, who doesn't seem to appear in much here, even if, as on this occasion, he plays a cad.

Argh was really looking forward to this one, but did not get tickets!
Re: Coco Before Chanel
Really enjoyed it. Cinema was about 90% full. That's Cineworld, Birmingham. But am I getting very slow at reading? or were the the subtitles a bit quick and I missed one or two endings. Bring on Coco part two. 8/10
Re: Coco Before Chanel
watch this at Cineworld Fulham Road.. really like this cinema compared to the Barnet cinema i went yesterday to watch HarryPotter.
the film itself was ok, not great. i'm bit disappointed as i was expecting some bizarre design from Coco..
and, we were given a Grazia magazine at the entrance.. the cinema was full as some of the audiences had to sit at the pathway. well, luckily the cinema manager came to rescue and look seats for them..
