Newham Showcase has plenty of free parking. The carpark is never full as the bowling complex there has closed down.a_person wrote:Yeh I would have considered Newham but I don't know of any free parking there plus people are so careless, I'd be too worried about my car the entire time. I think I could park it in Upton Park carpark but that requires walking from the carpark which is one busstops worth of a walk. Hmmm.superhero wrote:HaHaHA![]()

Lol as you reminded me, I got it mixed up with the Boleyn cinema.bevvy wrote:

But you're description of "the cinema near the sewage" - I think I'll just trekk to Empire Leceister Sq. I'm not doing a Panton Street cinema. I never have done Panton Street but from the reviews on here, I hope not to be starting and certainly not with Newham.

Re: Made in Dagenham
Did anyone go and see this tonight?
Re: Made in Dagenham
Yes I went to see it tonight in glasgow showcase. A fairly average film if Im honest, not very gritty or action packed more a low key version of events. If you want an easy viewing film then this is for you, but personally I wont be recommending it.
Re: Made in Dagenham
I saw this film tonight at Newham with my husband. The cinema was full up and some people stood at the back and watched the film due to lack of seats. We really enjoyed it, maybe because we were teenagers in the 60's and we thought that this era was realistically portrayed in the film. There were also some funny moments.
Yes, it’s a ‘feel good’ film that doesn’t actually show the true hardships of strikes, and even though the main theme is wage inequalities, this film also successfully shows how most men perceived women at the time as subordinates, regardless of class, intelligence, status or money.
The acting was excellent, especially Miranda Richardson as Barbara Castle. 9/10 for me, but I maybe a bit biased because of distant memories......

I thought this was an interesting and witty take on events from the time. Well worth catching, a strong 7/10 for me
Re: Made in Dagenham
Enjoyable flick, but none the less it was a BBC Film Production and looked it. Easly could have been a TV movie.
Saying that, it was an interesting film as I was not to familiar with the events (being an 80's child and all) and was pleased I saw it. I dont think it will set the box office on fire, but is definetly a nice way to spend almost 2 hours. It was also well acted/cast!
6.5/10
