Two competitions to win screening tickets on 8th Aug for a 10.30am start.... Looks like an upcoming screener to me. (And I would't blame it... it will definitely need word of mouth, if it's scoring at 2.2/10
)

Re: Marmaduke
"Brad Anderson created the decades-running newspaper comic strip, about a mischievous Great Dane who lives with the Winslow family, in 1954. The big dog then appeared in several animated episodes of "Heathcliff" and "Garfield and Friends." "
They now have a huge plush huggable dog at quite a few movie theatres. Seen a cool one in sunglasses
in Odeon first and another one without sunglasses in vue recently. It does attract a lot of attention, especially from kids.... Kids already want to see it.
and bad reviews won't stop them! So with some help from british weather
Marmaduke may do well here!

Re: Marmaduke
Just came back from seeing this at Cineworld, Edinburgh with the tickets I won on Real Radio.
Cinema was only about 60% full - probably because no one had 5 of a family - there was only two of us and not 5 people which the ticket allowed. A lot of children and one who wailed for a good while before the mother took the child out as it was spoiling everyone's enjoyment.
The film was predictable, but funny - I loved the scene when the family went away for the weekend and Marmaduke had a party with all his dog friends splashing about in the outdoor pool, thought they might have danced to "Who Let the dogs Out" but they didn't.
Good family entertainment and worth taking the kids to see.

Re: Marmaduke
I have had a free day out so far if you don't count the pound for the internet cafe. Arrived at Vue West at 9.45am and it was already buzzing with kids getting faces painted and all sorts. They handed out muffins, croissants and drinks and there were goody bags as well, although we missed out on them as they didn't believe us that we were kids! Bit annoying seeing that there were parents grabbing an extra for themselves too! I would have loved to put on the dogs ears during the film... I was asked whether my ticket was red or yellow as apparently there were two screenings (errr it's white?) and sent to screen 5 where we found more drinks and popcorn at our seats. Nice! Saw Sunny Saver with family who made sure they sat in front of us in a way that gave us total sight - thanks!
I liked the film a lot. Ok, so it's predictable and it's basically a teenager story about fitting in at a new school etc only with dogs instead but hey, it was cute, and some stuff was laugh out loud funny. Must say though that the human characters weren't given much depth and especially the Dad looked a bit bland and too young for having three kids. You need lovable John Cusack in that role really!
7.5/10
We then went to Bar 38 at West India Quay for a chicken roast only to be told after 15 minutes that they didn't have any. They offered us another roast and they decided to give us the whole meal plus drinks for free as way of apology! I love those guys. So looking forward to my networking and pampering evening there next week!
