Hello
I've got about 30-40 pairs of old spectacles (well it feels like 30-40) that I wanted to donate to charity. Before you all think I have two-inch lenses and wear NHS tortoise blue glasses (does anyone remember them?), these weren't all mine.
I wanted to donate them to a charity to send to the Third World or wherever. The only one I can find wants £1 for every pair of glasses too, so does anyone know of a charity that will just take them please?
Thanks.

Re: Charity that wants old specs
Great cause and have a few in our house too
Here some info here:
Vision Aid Overseas -
Pack them in a sturdy cardboard box clearly marked with the address:
VISION AID OVERSEAS
12 The Bell Centre
Newton Road,
Manor Royal,
Crawley,
West Sussex
RH10 9FZ
enclosing a compliments slip (so that they know who to thank).
Or find an optician's practice which helps VAO (and most do).
Hand the box to the optician who will then pass it to the specialist optical courier (HAYS DX). The vans from HAYS DX visit most opticians several times per week to deliver goods and they will transport boxes of second-hand spectacles to us free of charge, and free of paperwork. (Note: Securicor Omega Express helps in the same way in Eire).

Good news everyone I've invented a device that makes you read this in your head in my voice!

Re: Charity that wants old specs
Thanks Allsinging.
I just rung them and they said take them to Vision Express or SpecSavers and they'd know what to do with them.
I'm going to take them in and leave quickly in case they think some of them are old fashioned
