Excitement and adventure

#1 Post by andrews » Sat Aug 21, 2010 3:25 pm

Is there enough excitement and adventure in your life?

In a recent survey, 45% of men and 24% of women say that they would like to strap on a helmet and get behind the wheel of a racing car before they die (could be the last thing some of them do! :D )

Of all responses to the survey (and you could choose more than one category),

34% would like to drive a racing car
29% would ride a motorbike
28% would like to sky dive
23% would run a marathon
and 18% would do a bungee jump.

So the question is: What would you like to do?

I've already done mine - I went for a balloon ride - no parachute, or crash helmet (very bumpy landing - hurt my back)
I would not do any of the above, with the exception of a marathon, and then I'd probably be walking it - LOL.

So do the Marathon, Andrews :) Always healthy to go for a goal, especially one that involves getting fit ;) Go for it, its less dangerous than the rest of the list! Or do the shorter distance ones.

Well I did the bungee jump. In Blackpool, over the sea from about what seemed a 1000 bloody feet as I punged towards the sea. Terrifying, yet exhilerating. Whats wrong with us? Why do we enjoy the thrill of near death?!?! Madness, not sure I'm proud of this world wide mental illness....

Really want to do a 15000ft sky dive. I tried to before but I was told I was too fat at the time :( Had to be uder 15 stones apparently. Well I'm a lot light now so its back on my to do list!

I got the half marathon coming up in 4 weeks but my next major goal will definitely be the 2012 London Marathon! (too late to enter 2011 one)

BUT I really want to do do this at some point within the next 4-5 years, problem is, I aint a good swimmer...

oh and...white river rafting on the Colorado river!

off road rally driving. but only when I can afford a ride with all the safety precautions.

i wouldnt do any of those ralies where you drive at hellbent speeds though. strictly british roads with turns every ten yards please. thats where the real skill lies, as your navigator would agree.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

i love fair grounds, so love to go on the biggest and fastest rides on offer.
i think it would be quite an adventure to travel round, just doing the ammusment parks for a week or two

None of them on that list.

I'd love to do some sort of off road driving though or quad biking. That looks real fun.

Quad biking is awesome. I did that in Egypt! I had the most powerful bike. There was an Arab man who didn't let his wife drive the bike and was in constant competition with me. When I overtook him, he felt the need to drive next to me even though I had a bigger and powerful engine. Also, as I'm very agressive (especially when driving) there was NO WAY :nono: a little engine was going ahead of me. :nono:

Driving fast! when I was learning to drive my instructor took me to a clearway where they were building a new motorway and told me to put my foot down! When we got back into town, I felt like the car was at a standstill on 30mph! :D

OMG, I would sooooooooooooooooo do ALL of them EXCEPT run a marathon (no chance that's happening!).

For my birthday, my friends took me go karting but as I was too short, I couldn't reach the pedal so lost against her. My friend actually b*ght me a voucher for my birthday to drive fast cars (I lurve racing) so I'm looking forward to going to that soon. I can't remember what's involved but I'll be driving a Lambhorgini, followed by a Ferrari, Aston Martin and one other car which I can't remember right now and boy am I soooooooooooo looking forward to it. :D :D Bring it on!

We'll also be doing Sky-diving next year (or so she says). Although we'll have to travel abroad to do that as I want to do it in proper air and none of this inside experience rubbish.

I've been absolutely dying to have a motorbike but my Mum won't let me!!!!!! She says its too dangerous and although I could get it, it will mean she'll call me every 5 minutes while I'm out so I'll have to wait until I move out before I can think of that but definitely have to try it (or at least own a license for it).

As with bungee jumping... well I'm still trying to find somebody who will actually do it with me. :shifty:

I failed my first driving test for speeding at 35mph!!! And harsh braking near junctions. I was like WTF???? 35mph is NOT speeding. :nono:

What irritated me more was that my driving instructor knew I would fail on this but failed to tell me until my test date by which time I had been accustomed to driving like this that there was no way I could rectify in one day. Obviously, after I had failed, I instantly changed my instructor who wasn't going to keep making me fail tests to get more money out of me. :nono:
