I know what you mean, but they are not exactly helping themselves with advertising "This is the scariest movie all year" etc.
I was prepared to take it as just a drama, but it didn't help with all that copycat shaky camera work paranormal style and blair witch style film ending

Oh gosh, shaky camera filming is so irritating. I've never like documentary style horror. It always sucks.

Aaah but if you click on the RT Community reviews, there are close to 700 reviews, and its at 69%, critics at 70%. For sure its still early days, but so far, there is a definite sense of divisiveness of extreme opposite opinions amongst a fairly big enough sample.

You know, I even want to see this again and will take a big gamble and get my mates to watch this with me at the cinema. Will my mates hate me, and never trust me ever again? Oh the suspense....will report back next week if I've been hospitalised

Oh, I dont know any of their names, so I assumed you were talking about the reverend, who for me carried the movie. The girl was very good too though. But agreed, none of them are really oscar worthy performances by far. That's the problem with this, the promotors are forcing people to like this film which in my view will do the complete opposite and turn people off it! Pity.
