Yeah, love those 1p sweets - 1p for four fruit salads, liquorice all sorts, milk bottles - mouth watering just thinking about them - all at the cornershop.

what about big hair and shoulder pads? Hot pants and leggings, and ra-ra skirts!

I remember getting three aniseed balls for 1p.... and going into the sweet shop and asking for a 10p dip and getting loads of stuff.

Space Invaders were two packets for 10p.

Thing is, sweets in those days tasted like proper sweets, even if you go to a retro shop now they don't taste quite the same.

I remember going to the bakery at lunchtime getting half a cob, eating the bread and then going next door to the chippy for chips to fill the middle... all for 50p. Not sure why I did that, as I never ate the crusts   . Could have save the money from the half a cob and got more 10p dip.

Ohh having a good giggle at this thread...

We used to eat "Blue Mouth sweets" and copious amounts of them... why on earth did we ever think turning our mouth and teeth Bright blue could be cool... especially when the odd person would eat them after space invaders and the remains of them in their teeth turned blue also... nice.. :wtf:

Who remembers Malt Extract and Virol? I used to love those but they have probably disappeared now. And going decimal - it seemed to take years as several coins were introduced at intervals so people could get used to them.

For me, it doesn't get any more nostalgic than that.

Oh just eaten a packet of space dust - not nearly as tingly as I remember but exploded in my mouth when I took a mouthful of diet coke at the same time - ahhhhhhhhhhh used to do this with lemonade!

my zx is still in the attic! It would take ages to load then someone would move/shut a door /speak and we would have to load the game again. Wow did I have patients of a saint then!

I used to save the cards given with chewing gum - had most of the American civil war ones when I got a picture of horses jumping onto a barricade. I got upset and burnt them. mmm quite a collectors item now.

Could run a thread 'things I inadvertently destroyed which are now collectable'

We had a lock on the phone because my sister kept on running up bills.

Who remembers getting continental quilts?
I also remember playing the tennis game, beep beep beep on my little black and white portable television.

My Dad also put a lock on our phone as it was me using it all the time !!

I also remember the first video recorder we got - VCR2000, not the betamax that my friends said they had !
Now I can't remember which video I saw first on it, it was either History of the World Part 1 or Blazing Saddles. Both hilarious films !
