Re: Swine Flu Website + Hotline
Thanks for this Beate.
Just had daughter in london on the phone, flat mate has the dreaded Swine Flu and so I am a bit worried that she gets it cos she is asthmatic. Told her to keep washing her hands but better read some more.
Have any of the folks on the site had swine flu or friends and family had it.
dont know anyone up here who has been in contact with it.
thanks a lot

I live in London but have not come into contact with it yet! Do not worry too much, there is no guarantee she will get it, even with a sick flatmate.

Re: Swine Flu Website + Hotline
My dad's ill, and whaddayaknowit, he thinks he has swine flu.
I ask him, does it feel like you have normal flu? And he says no. So I say, you don't have swine flu. And he says, actually it only feels slightly different from a normal flu.
Swine flu is harmless, people.

I work in the NHS and this swine flu is no worse than normal flu. People have got to know the difference between a cold and flu. It does not get reported how many people die of the normal flu. If you are fit, no health problems then you cope with it. If you have an under lying problem like diabetes or asthma then it may take longer.AYBG wrote:My dad's ill, and whaddayaknowit, he thinks he has swine flu.

We now have antibacterial wipes and handgel everywhere in the office, kitchen, washrooms, reception, and a memo has gone round about the proper way to sneeze. Gawd.

Re: Swine Flu Website + Hotline
We have just made a few staff redundant and "unnecessary" spending has been curtailed but our Director has managed to spend an obscene amount of money on tissues, anti-bacterial wash, wipes and even some face masks!!
Definitely an overkill of the highest order - I am almost tempted to go into work if I ever get it just to see if all his precautions actually work!

Re: Swine Flu Website + Hotline
It does seem like there has been much overreaction about swine flu but then my mum always points out that it's fairly dormant in warm weather and is more likely to strike with a vengence in autumn/ winter. She also thinks that when the vaccinations come out I should ask for one because I will be working in primary schools and little kids aren't famed for keeping their germs to themselves...

Re: Swine Flu Website + Hotline
As a general precaution I tend to use antibacterial handwipes when using public toilets and on leaving the room I keep hold of the wipe and use it to push or pull door open rather than letting my bare skin touch the door handle. This is a very effective way of staving of any infections etc (not just influenza) as not every body washes their hands after using the facilities.

Me too Danni, have done this for years, but usually just use tissue then throw it away. So amazing you see so many people that dont wash their hands
