lol i try my best with freebies and discounts :P
think thats mainly because ive struggled to get a job ever since i left school, so ive only had the minimum to get by, think thats why im worrying about not being able to get a job in uni, ive been trying for over 2 years for a basic job and failed, now im going to uni with thousands of other people, and the ,ajority of them will have experience, which means theyll be picked over me, so i may well be looking at another year jobless, even though i do all my preperation! Hey rawr, congrats and though most things seem to have been covered, I've got to add in my 2cents worth!
I loved uni, so take the time to enjoy it. The fact that you are careful with £ is great, because hopefully you will still think purchases through. I didn't and now realise all the money I could have saved by not b*ying clothes all the time, and various tat (yes it was tat, I see that now I'm older and wiser) to decorate my room. If it's cute and fun (cf the gaget shop!) step back and come back tomorrow if you think you really need it. Chances are you'll have forgotten all about it. Make your room comfy with cushions but it doesn't need to be packed to be good! Take some new photos of your family if you fancy and print those to take with you. The pins on top of the door are genius (some smart thinking there!) but if they're wooden wardrobes the blue tack probably won't damage it, so you could put them up there? Else get some cheap and cheerful frames to put photos and pictures up on window sills or on your desk. You may well have shelves for this too.
Great tips above about learning to cook. Usually tastier and def cheaper and better for you. Final thing is all these decorations etc that you want to get to make your room cosy and your own probably don't need to be b*ght until you're in there - that'll make you feel like you are treating yourself and it's something that you can do with your new friends too! Plus you know what room you have and what you actually need!
You can def go out and party without drinking (coming from someone that very rarely drinks) - you sound very level headed so I think we're all confident you won't be led astray! You can always come to Aunty FMUK if you need some advice...
Most of all, back to my first comment - ENJOY it!

PS OMG you have to p*y for freshers and NUS?!?!

Im not all too fussed about decorating my room to be honest :) my room at home is fairly plain cause im a clean freak x) i cant have something looking or feeling too busy :P
ive seen special dangle photo frames that attach to doors for pictures which are fairly cheap and student friendly, so i might invest in one of them if i find enough pictures to fill it :P
i really want to cook my own meals but my mom is insisting that i wont want to cook or wont have enough time to :/
no offence to her but she is lazy and doesnt enjoy cooking as much as i do
so i think i could give her the benefit of the doubt there :)
yeah i think im going to be drinking alot of diet coke and lemonade in the first week xD
ill just lie and say its got vodka in if people ask aha

surprisingly yes!
i didnt think you had too :S
but the NUS card is £11 per year
and my freshers week STANDARD pass was £35, and thats entry to everything and a freshers tshirt
I got the £55 pass which was entry to everything, a tshirt and a university hoodie
There was also a VIP pass, which is priority entry, needless to say I didnt bother since it was £65...
oh and if you wanted VIP, a tshirt AND a hoodie, youd be spending a whopping £95!
:O

You can always fill the frames with a mixture of photos and pictures - cut from magazines, the postcards they do in cinemas can be quite fun etc etc - you're creative so it's just a matter of time before you tell us you need more frames and then space for frames!
Minimalism is good - I am a fan, but struggle since I am a hoarder (I struggle to part with the above mentioned tat in case it comes in handy...!)
Everyone is different - even with cooking! My mum is A M A Z I N G and it's her stress buster, whereas I hate chopping! I still do it though, natch... It's great that you enjoy it!

At least you got a t shirt and hoodie - not so bad then. Probably wise not to go with VIP esp as you never know whether you want to go ot not - a higher the price would bite in that case!

You could say you're on antibiotics so not drinking? Being honest about it eventually will certainly help you weed out the real friends - my friends didn't even blink after a while. Personally, I just don't like it, I don't like being in control... so what?! Doesn't make me less fun (believe me!) Just be confident about it and it'll not be a big deal after a while. Plus, handovers SUCK! x

yeah the p*ying for NUS was a bit of a shocker. its free here at mine, but then i think if you are p*ying the uni £3000 a year in fees (plus campus rent), then they ought to stump up any fee for a little NUS card.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

luckily i get my NUSExtra card free for the whole 3 years with my student account :)
good ole lloyds!

yeah i was thinking about possibly decorating the place with my favourite artists or even my own work :) some good ole buff actors are healthy too, not sure my bf will approve! xD
yeah i like baking more than anything :) if you can cook a basic cake youll be happy aha, any time you feel stressed, break out the flour and eggs! x)

yeah i only wanted the standard and i thought by getting a hoodie too would save a tenner(every little helps!)
and after hearing our headline act, thats one event i wont be attending already! and im not going to the bar crawl on the first night either x)
going to the film night instead! x)

yeah i suppose i could say that, or just come out with it, ive already told wuite a few people i dont like drinking too much, and they seem fine enough with it(my current friends were a bit iffy, needless to say i wasnt invited to many house parties because of it!)
but yeah personal experiences have made me steer clear, my bfs mom actually died from being an alcoholic(only found that out 3 months ago), really did shock me since my mom seems to be heading down a similar trail...
my single experience of overdoing it involved me falling down 3 flights of stairs and to this day having no memory of the night :S
AND i still havent experienced a hangover :| even when i do drink on those odd occasions!
im glad i havent! xD

A couple of things to add, especially with you being a clean freak - don't forget to take some dusters and wipes to clean surfaces such as mirrors and puter screen.

As for part time job, have you applied to local cinemas?
