rawr_xoxo wrote:ahh that is a very good point! cleaning stuff, sprays and wipes! AND youve mentioned a mirror, which i dont have D: oops!

aaand there is an odeon at the skydome, but im not too sure where it is, and since i cant drive im very limited on how far i can go :S
i went looking for it with a mate about a month ago and we couldnt find it, which makes me think that its on the outskirts? :s
might look it up on google maps :o
Don't go b*ying a really good mirror, you will probably find something in a charity shop and get all your cleaning stuff in poundshops and similar. I know Asda are doing a sale on cleaning products at the moment but you would need to compare prices to see if it is better b*ying there or waiting and b*ying from cheap shops.

If you have Aldi, Lidl or Netto in your area or the area your Uni is, then sign up for their weekly newletters and check out the current deals for your area. Not just food but bedding and towelling come up regularly plus a variety of other goodies.

You might want to take a small toolkit or at the least a few screwdrivers, especially if you will be b*ying any flatpack stuff.

i know theres a full length mirror on sale at ikea for a tenner which would be ideal, but again, how do i get it on the wal? whos knows, i might already have a mirror
i dont get to see the actual room im living in until next saturday :S

yeah i went to asda yesterday it was 3 for £3 on shower gel, so i stocked up
and it was 2 for a £1 on washing up liquid :)
as for cleaning stuff ill probably grab them from the market the day after i get there, i expect the room will be clean to start with :)

and the only places close to me are a tesco express and a sainsburys, theres an asda on the outskirts but ive got noway of getting there unfortunately :S
and flatpack stuff i dont think my mom would even let me anywhere near it lol, shed insist on doing it herself, then itll end up like all of her flatpack stuff, broken, wonky or disfunctional x)

A word of caution too - beware of thieves!

They are aware of the dates when Freshers are moving in - usually Sunday. Parents arrive with their excited child, car so packed, the child's entire bedroom must be in there, and then begins the process of moving ALL the stuff up several flights of stairs, passing all those other Mums, Dads, students, and thieves. Car doors and boots, doors to bedrooms are all left open, and it's an opportunity for the thieves to walk in and help themselves.
Luckily it did not happen to us when we took our son in his first year, but there were 3 laptops stolen in another hall of residence. Not exactly the start anyone wants.

Check that your valuables are insured. And keep your door locked whenever you go out.

I'm sure you will have a great time - you will be so busy making new friends and studying, we'll understand if you forget FMUK for a while! :D

not to worry my room has insurance included with the rent, so everything in my room is insured
anything of value like my laptop, xbox and ipod are staying FIRMLY in my room
if i go to the gym im taking my OLD ipod, only ever using my other ipod for commuting or if im going home :)
not going to risk taking my laptop anywhere lol

6 days and counting till the move eeeeek!
got 2 boxes packed, with some basics
have mixed feelings now lol x)

One of the most useful and sociable things I had at uni was a door stop! It was a friendly way to let my corridor mates come in and say hello or a quick chat as they pass by...(p.s. I only used it while I was in my room of course! :p)
