What a surprisingly fun film - yay! There were a some darker moments I wasn't expecting from a children's film. A whole mix of ages were present in the cinema which sadly was quite empty.

I'd give it a 7 for entertainment value.

What you guys think?

I really enjoyed it... before it started I noticed all the kids in the cinema and was suddenly reminded that it featured someone from HSM in it but then the film itself is nothing like it so I wonder how all the fans reacted?

It start dragging a bit towards the end but the music & story was pretty good ....

a bit or a surprise after expecting HSM type songs and ending up with a kid who regularly writes to David Bowie and eventually gets a reply! :)

7.5/ 10

what a fab film....my kids actually sat still the entire film!

This totally exceeded my expectations as i also was expecting a HSM type film.....loved the music and thought it was easy to watch...a few laugh oout loud scene and the tear jerker made it a good all rounder for me.

I'd give it a 7.5/10

Which cinema did you manage to see this in cellar_door? I was quite interested to see it but unfortunately I couldn't get tickets for a London screening. It's a shame that not many who had tickets made it out in the end.

Hi Opas

The showing I attended was Reading Showcase. It is in the middle of nowhere really so possibly explain why it was empty. Although when I checked to see if any more tickets were available for a friend it kept coming back no more tix available so I can only assume people booked and didn't turn up.

Maybe being a Sunday morning too perhaps?

Saw this yesterday at the De Lux Leicester – the film provided unexpected entertainment

DH and I enjoyed this more than we expected really - but it gets a middle score from us about 5/10. Some of the music was good - though it could have been more effectively dubbed in places! It certainly wasn't a all hearts & flowers HSM sort of thing - though I do wish they had included more on the tragic back stories for the two main characters.

I thought it didn't really know what it was aiming for in some ways - not really enough focus on the background of the characters to make it 'serious' and yet it wasn't really funny either - the first kiss and the scene where he filmed himself with her cardboard cut out were the only ones that drew laughs from the audience. Perhaps the music was supposed to be enough though?

We saw it in Reading too - and those sitting near us were not enthralled with it - three men in front of us who spent most of the film sending texts and annoying me with the light coming off their phones and a teen behind us who played with a can of drink to create noise in the second half of the film.

The Ugly Truth tonight – see what grade than one gets!

We thought this was quite good and score it at 8/10. It was better than I expected personally, I liked the different type of music as again I expected it to be very HSM and it simply wasn't.

Very well done....can appeal to both the kids and the adults with them I think...good mix :)

Saw this at Manchester Trafford with the kids, and we all enjoyed it, some of the younger kids did start to get a little borred towards the end though, 7/10
