Sorry, yes it was Fountainpark last nighthavingascreen wrote:Saw this at Westerhailes last night. About 90% full and no one walked out except a woman with a tickly cough! Silence in the cinema - no laughing or talking or going to the toilet, so everyone seemed to like it.
I was in fountianpark and the same conditions there, even down to the woman with the tickly cough. I'm glad i haven't seen the origional but want to see it now.......if i can stand to watch those bullies in action again. I felt sorry for those bullies but not the big brother, he was the real monster of the film.

Re: Let Me In
I've not seen the original, so I went into this without any prejudices. I really enjoyed it for what it was. I felt it was well performed and I quite like the story. I think going into a horror film, especially something with a vampire or other such creature, you need to be ready for something that may come across as hammy, goofy, etc. because it's kinda open to the viewer. One either suspends their disbelief and takes the film for what it is or you like at it critically and apply the logic that should accompany a film lacking the paranormal. In one sense, the way she was portrayed and lashed out was well done. In another way it was totally ridiculous, because c'mon, that'd never happen. I think if you can put yourself in that first group, you'll enjoy this. I thought it was gorey in all the right places and I enjoyed the suspense of it. Maybe I'd feel differently had I seen the original, but as I've not I'd second prettyxcool's 8/10. It was nice to get her view of it on the way out. It's certainly not a flawless film, but it sure beats the horror films I've seen most recently. I'll definitely be tracking down the original now.

Re: Let Me In
Watched this with my partner last night at Edinburgh WH ...
Interestingly, as we walked out at the end she said, “It was fantastic, one of the best films I’ve seen for a long time. But, those who like Twilight et al ain’t gonna like this one.”
On the other hand I was bored stiff and couldn’t wait for it to end. The first half hour was bl**dy hard work. You know, the kind of dialogue that often goes something like this (it’s not from this film, but you’ll get my drift):
#1 ‘Have you seen .....’
30 sec pause
#2 ‘Who?’
30 sec pause
#1 ‘Him’
30 sec pause
#2 ‘Why?’
30 sec pause
#1 ‘I need to know, have you seen him?’
1 minute pause
#2 ‘Who?’
I’m convince that if I didn’t happen to fall asleep during these flatliner moments in movies my popcorn would be winging its way towards the screen in frustration.
So, one of us gave it 9/10 and the other 4/10 – I may have been tempted to push it to a five but the CGI moments were appallingly bad.

Re: Let Me In
Not really my type of film to be honest, just found it quite dull. Want to see the original to see if I'd prefer that. Only 5.5/10 for me.

Re: Let Me In
I watched the original tonight- not impressed. Yes, the remake relies too heavily on the original, but it improves on a lot and the pacing is so much better. LTROI feels terribly flat in a lot of ways.

Re: Let Me In
My hubby liked it but I wasn't as taken with it as him, it was ok, but a bit slow for me and feel they could have made it alot better, so our rating my hubby would give it a 8/10 I would give it a 5/10.
