The film started a little bit slow bit soon picked up and laughed continuously throughout along with the rest of the cinema (maybe a bit more). From a film that I was not too bothered about seeing and thought was going to be too predictable I was shockingly suprised, Predictable ending but plenty of humour. This is definitley one for the DVD collection and I would p*y to go and see this again at the cinema. The boyfriend is gutted he missed out on it now. i'd give it 8/10.

I went to this last night at Gateshead, Metrocentre. Got there early and the cinema was filling up quickly and I reckon by the trailers starting it was about 90% full. The trailers that came on were good and would go and see them also (Time Travellers Wife, Funny People, The invention of Lying and Dorian Gray).

Re: The Ugly Truth
I'd probably go about 6/10 for this. My girlfriend (predictably) enjoyed it more than I did; fine for what it was, but a bit of a waste of Gerard Butler's talents

Re: The Ugly Truth
I wonder why you got trailers when that's not normal at previews? I wouldn't have minded seeing those! I've also been thinking I wouldn't mind seeing the film itself again, which is rare for me. It sounds, too, as though the Tuesday previews were generally more popular than the Monday ones.

I saw this last night at Odeon Braehead, they put it in one of their massive screens so it was only about 40% full, if that.
Film was really funny in places, but utterly predictable. I'm giving it 7/10 but I think the missus would put it a wee bit higher.

I also went to see this at gateshead lastnight...the trailers were good and made you want to see them all.....dying to see "Time travellers wife" though suspect i will need to take plenty of hankies for this chick flik. "Funny people" - slightly concerned after seeing this trailers as the freebie tix ive got state PG and am sure that the F word was mentioned a few times in this! "Invention of Lying" - I actually want to see this one also although iam not a fan of the office and find Ricky hard to stomach at the best of times! lolsarahjc78 wrote:I went to this last night at Gateshead, Metrocentre. Anyways back to the "Ugly truth" - great film and what a good atmosphere in the cinema. I've never laughed so hard since "The Hangover" 8/10 from us xx

Re: The Ugly Truth
I saw this in sheffield and 20 mins in we had a powercut (the whole city did). The emergency lights came on and they did keep coming round saying that they were trying to find out what was going on. Eventually after about 20 mins they came round and said it didn't look like the power was coming on any time soon so they were cancelling the screening but we'd have to sit tight as they were evacuating the screens one by one. They said they'd look into the situation about it being a free screening but din't think they'd be able to screen it again as it was out today.
The screening was full and with no air-con working for half an hour it got were hot & stuffy waiting and just as it was about to become our turn to leave the power came back on. So within a couple of mins the film had restarted (thankfully in the same place).
Having such a long break I don't know how much it's affected my view of it. I agree with a few others that didn't find it that great. Recently I've really enjoyed The Proposal, the Hangover, Bruno etc but this one never seemed to reach the right level of crudity if it was trying to be one type of film or not clean enough if it was trying to be another. The green screen bit at the end realy was bad and so obvious. Also I just couldn't b*y that a TV producer would be so innocent, naive and fluffy.
I'm only giving it an extra point for Katherine Heigl & Gerard Butler (I hope they work together on a better film though) 6/10.

Re: The Ugly Truth
I saw this at Shepherds Bush, managed to get fairly good seats near the back but it did fill up quickly. There were a few seats in the very front rows but they weren't on any kind of incline so people didn't seem too keen on them - noticed quite a few people trying to look back to see if there were seats but they had gone. The film also started about 10 minutes late, which was good as there was a rush of people walking in just after 6.30 so there was a chance for it to settle down.
I did like the film for what it was. I was hoping they might shake it up but no it was as predictable as anything. I do like Mr Butler so I've got some patience for any film he is in. Plus Katherine Heigel was good. It had a few laugh out loud moments but when it comes to rating these recent hate-love rom coms, I think I preferred The Proposal. 6.5/10.

Re: The Ugly Truth
I saw this at Sheffield Cineworld on Mon 3rd Aug. It was so full me and mum in law and a few other people went into the cinema and were waiting in the cinema itself cos there weren't enough seats for everyone. The ushers stopped the film, which I have never known before and put the lights on. We managed to get seats but apart which wasnt a problem. They brought in plastic chairs for some, which I personally thought would be a fire hazard as they were placed in front of the fire exits at the front of the cinema. The other people that were left who declined the seating were invited to see any film free of charge. Very generous I thought (the others who missed out were friends of mine so this is how I know).
Seefilmfirst have either over egged the numbers or several people have duplicated tickets for this screening. Either way it was a first. Apparently Seefilmfirst inform the cinema of how many people have tickets and the said cinema then choose which screen it will be in.
I thoroughly enjoyed the film and there were loads of people laughing out loud all the way through it. Very funny and really enjoyed Gerrard Butler in his part - what a hunk!!!
You can't beat a good chick flick!! 8/10

Re: The Ugly Truth
Saw this at Odeon, Braehead in Glasgow on Monday night. Managed to get seats in the back row as usual, although we dodged the one with the unidentifiable stain and the one with the chewing gum remnants!
Wore my FMUK badge, but didn't bump into anyone
Considering the number of codes for this film I was surprised the cinema wasn't fuller but I guess that was 'cos they had the showing across two nights.
Thought my mum might have been shocked at some of the racier scenes/dialogue but, hey, she survived Donkeypunch so I guess she has seen it all before

This was a corny predictable romcom, but I liked it. I left the cinema chuckling, so that's a big thumbs up
