A Perfect Getaway
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0971209/
Cliff and Cydney (Steve Zahn and Milla Jovovich) are an adventurous young couple celebrating their honeymoon by backpacking to one of the most beautiful, and remote, beaches in Hawaii. Hiking the wild, secluded trails, they believe theyve found paradise. But when the pair comes across a group of frightened hikers discussing the horrifying murder of another newlywed couple on the islands, they begin to question whether they should turn back.
Unsure whether to stay or flee, Cliff and Cydney join up with another couple, and things begin to go terrifyingly wrong. Far from civilization or rescue, everyone begins to look like a threat and nobody knows whom to trust. Paradise becomes hell on earth as a brutal battle for survival begins

Re: A Perfect Getaway
I won 2 tickets through the Evening Standard newspaper comp (thanks for posting comp phunkygal!) to see this at Charlotte Street Hotel tonight.
We arrived at 7.15pm, had our names checked off and were given fake haiiwan flower garlands to wear "to get us into the mood"...LOL! I would have preferred free snacks and drinks
.The screening was for 7.30pm and we were expecting it to start on time. However, we had to wait till 8.00pm for Milla Jovovich to arrive. She gave a 30 second intro where all she was " Hope you guys enjoy it and hope it puts you in a loop. It put us in a loop when filming. Thanks for coming." They made us wait half an hour for that!
The screening was only half full...not sure if that was intended or if people decided not to turn up. The screen was of a reasonable size and had comfy chairs which was needed for having to put up with this movie.
The movie is very predictable. The synopsis above makes the movie sound like a thriller although in my opinion only the last 10mins actually resemble anything of a thriller! It is slow paced and I was bored until the last 10mins when something actually happens! The majority of the movie is based on watching both couples hike on the trail where they both suspect each other and others until the 'climatic twist', which really isn't a twist because you can guess it from the beginning. There were few if any light hearted moments in the film to which I think was needed to make the hiking scenes bearable to watch. There are a few gory bits as well towards the end with knives being pulled out of arms etc..there were several gasps in the audience during those bits. The story is nothing unique...seen several similar movies with the same storyline. This is not what I would expect from a movie categorised as a thriller so I give it 4/10 but that really is for the 'exciting' last few minutes and Steve Zahn
who made a good psycho-killer in the end! I would have liked to have been told more about his background though and what made him want to take over the identities of others. Milla Jovovich was also good as his accomplice but not as believable
.

Oh dear.... I would have liked to watch this but with that sort of a review, I think I'll give it a miss. Sounds like all the good moments are in the trailer!
Poor Miss_Precious.
Do you have a picture of you in the haiiwan flower garlands? hehe.

Re: A Perfect Getaway
I am kind of surprised too that momentum only did 2 screenings nationwide or maybe they did do london ones and we didn't know about it....
