Mesrine : Killer Instinct
Mesrine : Killer Instinct
Really looking forward to this one, off to see it this week!
It was released last friday, has anyone on the forum been to see it yet, what was your opinion? Heres the synopsis...
Mesrine: Killer Instinct introduces us to Jacques Mesrine(Vincent Cassel), a loyal son and dedicated soldier back home and living with his parents after serving in the Algerian War. Handsome and charming, he is soon seduced by the neon glamour of Sixties Paris and the easy money it presents. Mentored by Guido (Gerard Depardieu) Mesrine soon moves swiftly up the criminal ladder, choosing the high risk life of a gangster over the honest life of the hard working family. After pulling off an audacious heist he and his lover Jeanne (Cecile de France), flee to Canada where the opportunity of one big payout lures him out of hiding and propels him towards international notoriety
Its part one of two, the second piece called Public Enemy (hopeully better than michael manns effort!)

Re: Mesrine : Killer Instinct
I had the choice between this, Frozen River and Mad, Sad & Bad when I went to the cinema on friday but chose frozen river
would be good to hear what people think and might still go, part 2 is out on the 28th August according to my cinema programme so it's not long to wait for the second one. :)

Re: Mesrine : Killer Instinct
When I was at the ritzy yesterday they had flyers if you go and see the first film and keep hold of your tix you can see the second 2 for 1. It wasn't a picturehouse specific flyer so if anyone's planning on p*ying to see both keep an eye out at the cinema

Yeah I saw a pile of those when I peeked over the counter at Odeon Covent Garden...
Top 50 Poster!
Re: Mesrine : Killer Instinct
Does anybody know if either the Screen On The Green at Islington or Cineworld Enfield is handing out these 2-for-1 flyers for Mesrine?
Re: Mesrine : Killer Instinct
Went to the cinema on Wednesday to watch this... Fantastic! Vincent Cassel is as good as the reviews say, Cant wait for the second installment, but it will have to be on another orange wednesday as there were no signs of the 2 for 1 flyers at the ugc in glasgow...

Re: Mesrine : Killer Instinct
I saw this last night and it was an entertaining film overall.
I enjoyed the humour in the film but some of the plot holes and cliched moments detracted from it for me.
Especially with Cassel's Mesrine who may come off as either unashamedly audacious or just incredibly stupid.

Re: Mesrine : Killer Instinct
For those who have seen both parts of Mesrine, which part did you prefer?
I think personally I prefered the first part more than the second part as the second part gets a bit bloated and sometimes retreads ideas and themes covered in the first part, although both parts are still pretty good anyway
(I also don't see why with a little bit of editing they couldn't have made it all into one movie)
