Anjan Saha and friends pioneer their self-styled Theatre of the Continuous Performance where spoken word merges with light illuminations and live music as they take a look at the world of Dark Fairytales. Featuring poets Olumide Popoola, Sabrina Mahfouz, Baden Prince Jr and Dzifa Benson. Visual design by Robert Pyecroft Rainbow. Musical accompaniment by Robert Hokum and Sam Kelly.

"Sounds of London Literature Lounge" compilation spoken word and music CD launch on the night. Come Early... and Stay Late

6pm Free FOYER/café stage pre-concert with Guitarist Geoff Garbow- critically acclaimed fingerstyle acoustic guitarist whose compositions encompass influences from blues, latin and Indian music as well as traditional English folksong.

8.30pm Aftershow at FOYER/ café stage: Guyanan master flautist Keith Waithe joins award winning percussionist Sam Kelly, bluesman Robert Hokum and acoustic guitar maestro Geoff Garbow for a musical banquet of Global rhythms.

Writer and director Anjan Saha teams up with projectionist Al Livingstone to present a magical enchanted world of Dark Fairytales. Blank Canvas started life in late 2007 as a bi-monthly night showcasing many of the finest names creating cutting edge and innovative contemporary classical, electronic and experimental music. Some of the artists who stamped their mark across these Blank Canvas gigs included: Elysian Quartet, Jon Hopkins, Leafcutter John, Mira Calix, Plaid, Scanner and Shlomo.

Tonight's edition sees the premiere of John Matthias, Adrian Corker and Andrew Prior's new work for violin, voice, electric guitar, piano and NeuroSampler, what happens. This new work will receive its US premiere at the Ecstatic Music Festival, in the Merkin Concert Hall in New York City in January 2011 and will a second UK performance at the Peninsula Arts Contemporary Music Festival, Re-sounding Science in February 2011. The work features long, slow moving melodies on violin (John Matthias), piano and guitar (Adrian Corker), interspersed with triggered textures from laptop musician, Andrew Prior. The NeuroSampler contains a real-time spiking artificial neural network that will trigger live sounds as the artificial neurons fire. The trio will also perform a version of Cortical Songs written by John Matthias and Nick Ryan, voted in the top-ten classical albums of 2009 by Time Out (Chicago), London Sinfonietta perform a selection of Shorts and cellist Marvin Ayres brings his minimalist sensibilities and unique ambient sound processes together in a special live set.

Josh Widdecombe (Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year 2010) Since his first gig in 2008 Josh Widdecombe has had a remarkable impact on the comedy circuit. In just two years he has been named Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year 2010 and after just a handful of gigs made it to the final of the prestigious So You Think You're Funny final at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2008. Now regarded as one of the best up-and-coming acts on the UK circuit Josh is in constant demand at clubs and theatres across Britain. You can catch Josh at any of the following... The Comedy Store, Up The Creek, The Stand, Old Rope, Downstairs at the Kings Head, 99 Club and Amused Moose plus he is also being booked by most of the top promoters in the UK: Off The Kerb, Avalon, Brett Vincent and Christian Knowles to name just a few. Beyond stand up, in 2009 Josh wrote and performed in the sketch show Superclump at the Edinburgh Festival, receiving critical acclaim and packed audiences throughout the run. UK comedy website Chortle described the show as "a fresh, assured and funny debut, with imaginative ideas executed with wit and talent". At the previous year's festival he performed in stand up showcases South By South Wales at the Gilded Balloon and the Amused Moose Hot Starlets. Ed Gamble Rising star Ed Gamble has come a long way since the final of the Revels Student Comedy Awards at Edinburgh 2007. A finalist in The Laughing Horse Big, Big, Big New Act Competition (2007) Ed is co writer and host of the Chortle sponsored Peacock and Gamble Podcast. Available on iTunes, the last two series of the podcast culminated with special, series finale live audience recordings. Ed has written, performed and directed with the Durham Revue since 2004 and in 2008 co wrote and directed Devils, Cambridge Footlights Edinburgh Festival show. Following the success of Ed's Cool Fun Comedy Night in Durham Ed took the show to The Free Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2008 and 2009. In addition, Edinburgh 2009 saw Ed appear as part of the Comedy Zone - the fringe's longest - running and most prestigious stand-up showcase as well as performing in Frank Skinner's Credit Crunch Cabaret.
