Uni Project

#1 Post by weliveandbreathewords » Sun Jan 23, 2011 6:21 pm

As quite a few people on here are from London, Id like to ask a mahoosive favour :)
Im creating a new book cover for "the postman always rings twice" and im looking to have a picture of an old diner on the front.
Restaurants/bars/cafes that I can think of which have a similar decor are frankies and bennys and tgi firdays near me, but I thought london might have a wider range.

Do any of you know any places that do have an american diner style decor to them?

The only one I can think of at the moment is the Ed's diner chain. Ed's diner in Soho has an interesting shape with it being built on the corner.
Also if you're looking for reference - Taschen books are always good for designers, it's a must to start building that visual library!
For artistic reference Edward Hopper will obviously be a good starting point.

Hope it goes well for you!

There is also 'Starvin' Marvin's Diner' up in Perivale West London on the A40. It's an authentic American diner imported from the States in 1997. I've never been inside as I've only passed it.
