MY GREATEST FEAR
MY GREATEST FEAR
Just read that the recession will be gone in 40 days...I guess they have an appointment since they know the exact amount of days. But that is not my concerned if they are "chronometrating" the end of an era, but if all the goodies that we have been receiving, namely free tix for cinemas, plays, attractions and you know what I mean anyway all the rest is going to go with the rebirth of a booming economy which only means that the rich is going to get richer and the not so rich is going to start p*ying double as it used to. We all know that food has gone up through the roof but using street markets makes your money last longer, but I guess the speaker has been a vegetarian for almost 40 years and is a loner. Oh, god! keep it as it is, pls.( and I don't mean Ay By)

Where did you read this?
If that's the case, why are the loads of articles about people being jobless, that leavers from school these days may not even have their first job until a very long time?!!

Re: MY GREATEST FEAR
Now hang on a minute. We had previews before the recession so they won't go away. An end of the recession doesn't mean we are out of the woods yet, it is just a mathematical thing about the number of months inflation has stayed the same or whatever it is, I am trying to check the exact defintion out on wikipedia but that seems to be down right now.

Re: MY GREATEST FEAR
Bascially, I have read that you enter a recession if the GrossDomesticProduct falls in two consecutive quarters. So to get out of it it has to go up in two consecutive quarters. In real terms that doesn't mean much. We might mathematically be out of a recession but the situation still isn't very good.
Re: MY GREATEST FEAR
recession or not, surely the free previews are used to advertise the film by word of mouth, i can't see how a recession or boom time will alter this. people are more likely to go to a film if it's recommended to them, aren't they?

Re: MY GREATEST FEAR
Previews have been around for years. They will not suddenly stop. People will always go to the cinema.

Re: MY GREATEST FEAR
In fact cinema attendance has risen since the start of the recession!
Film companies will always want to promote their films and the biggest influence are people's peers so long live the free screenings.

Re: MY GREATEST FEAR
If the economy get better, companies get a bigger budget on advertising.
So if companies believe these kind of freebies can promote the movie, there should be more in booming times.
