Re: Hercules
Not as bad as it could have been but the trailer made it appear better than it actually was. Very thin plot, special effects looked dodgy at times, too many different accents and the attempts at humour were weak. 6/10.
I was also disappointed it was in 2D as the trailer (which I saw before Apes last week) had great eye popping 3D.

Yeah, the accents were all over the place, and Atalanta did look a bit like Nicole Kidman!

Re: Hercules
I was pleased it was in 2D, you could actually see what was happening for a change. It was a silly summer film, corny dialogue, lots of action without really seeing anything too gory. Good to see Ian 'Swearagen' on the big screen again.7/10

Haha, so cheesy but enjoyed this. My friend even clapped at the end - yes that was her - the only one to!
My other friend was mesmerised, she could not stop thinking about those pecks!
Disappointed not in 3D though. 8/10
Lovely to see so many FMUKers. The O2 Cineworld staff are so useless, telling me I was too early for 6.30pm, arriving at 5.45pm, and to come back at 6.30pm, on looking at my ticket, or wait in the sitting area. I, of course, ignored him and went straight upstairs where another staff told us we could go into Screen 9 straightaway!

Re: Hercules
Saw this in Glasgow in company of deb1, karenlg123, teedybear1, SocialFlutterby, stuartboy and scootermcc. Saw Yinster and clan further along in the back row. Busy FMUKers' night out!
I really enjoyed "Hercules" and much more than I expected! As others have said, I initially found all the different accents strange but decided just to go with it and not think too much.
The Rock was definitely physically up to the role of Hercules and was ably supported by a great cast. Definitely a film to see on the big screen.
Marks 8/10

Re: Hercules
Rather enjoyed this! Not especially as in company of MrsMcG and chums who I met as their lift door opened.
Definitely a surprise as I'd heard it was akin to Pompeii and only worse.
Challenge - who can name a single character other than Hercules (without Googling!) I basically saw Lovejoy, Elepahant Man and Peter Mullan playing themselves anyway so any character they played was redundant. Having said that it isn't a criticism, just an observation. No idea who anyone else was. Presume they weren't Greek mythology characters.
Bit of a silly story that could almost have been an episode of Spartacus etcd. as The Labours of Hercules seemed to be a back story. Maybe this was Hercules 2 (H1 having gone straight to dvd! lol)
Cheapskates not giving us 3D.

Re: Hercules
I can see why people have commented on the differing accents, but Greece is a big country and it's not so out of place to expect regional differences surely ?
After all it's mentioned how they come from different areas and there are differing classes to consider too.
I was obsessed with Xena etc as a teen and can name quite a few characters
Enjoyed it so much did some study on Greek myths. Still read Xena fan fiction online!

Re: Hercules
Oh I didn't mean that with my accent comment. More Peter Mullan was comfortable enough not to disguised his broad Scottish accent with a fake one. Rufus Sewell sounded just like he does in every film I have seen him in.KM&M wrote:I can see why people have commented on the differing accents, but Greece is a big country and it's not so out of place to expect regional differences surely ?

I knew I seen Aksel Hennie before but didn't think he was the wee guy in Headhunters

Re: Hercules
I enjoyed this this more than I expected to. Like the others, love the Rock, have done since his WWF days many years ago before he was an actor
I didnt realise so many other "names" were in the film their accents didnt bother me I think fake accents would have been worse. Loved the humourous bits, not one to take seriously, but just to enjoy for what it is - entertaining. I had no problems it wasnt in 3D, not something I am that impressed with in most films. Only problem was it was roasting in Didsbury, they could have put the air con on
8/10 from me.
