Re: Personal Film Blog
Maybe I can see whether we can put up Links somewhere on the Main Site to forum members' film blogs and in turn you guys could link to us? How does that grab people? We know David has a blog too and some people here blog on other sites, so what do you think? It would both be showcasing your blogs and not losing you to other sites altogether, if that makes sense. Whenever you write a review, a link to it here on the relevant Film Discussion thread is of course also welcome.
Re: Personal Film Blog
I would definitely be up for that, good idea.

Re: Personal Film Blog
I'd be happy to link back if I can figure out a good way of doing so. This thing is kicking my ass. The formatting is driving me up a wall. Adding a photo to a post just throws everything off. Meanwhile, the background of my blog appears differently at home than it does at work. I think I may have made a decent adjustment, but who's to say how it looks on any other computer? I still have loads of content I want to add, including the rest of my Big Screen experience and reviews of the new films I saw there. I also want to do a Skin I Live In write up. This has already been quite time consuming. Plus my usual typos which really irk me.
Why did I do this?

Re: Personal Film Blog
What hosting site are you using? If you opt for a large one such as Wordpress or Blogger there are hundreds of templates to use (do you remember those from your LJ days?) which you can preview to see if it looks good. You can personalise them to your own preferences as well and have more options to styliize, such as show 1 paragraph of an article on the homepage and then people have to click "read more" for the rest to show. That way a long post doesn't mean that people have to scroll a lot to get to your previous posts.
And you can still keep your domainname without the name Wordpress or Blogger in it.
I agree with what others have said in regards to the background, but I'm looking forwards to reading more of your reviews!

Re: Personal Film Blog
I am on wordpress and have gone through loads of themes. I definitely want the show 1 paragraph option, but cannot find how to change that. Is it theme dependent?canadian_turtle wrote:What hosting site are you using? Re: Personal Film Blog
I don't think it's related to the theme. I am using a Wordpress blog for work and it's an option in the HTML menu (where you choose your font colour and size for instance) and is called either "pagebreak" or "read more", depending on how you want it to look. Obviously if you're familiar with HTML coding you can also just copy int he code yourself :)

Re: Personal Film Blog
Look for a little symbol that looks like a straight line - that should be it :)

Re: Personal Film Blog
it is also theme dependent, i have it built into my theme so i don't have to think about it which is very handy.
it took me a while to get my head around wordpress too! i love it now.
