Case 39
Re: Case 39
I haven't seen the trailer but it's rated 6.3 on IMDB and people seem to think that someone other than Renee Zellweger might have been better in the lead. I must admit I hadn't realised it was meant to be a horror film, so what with the mixed views and genre, I'm not sure if I'm quite so keen to see it now. But if a convenient screening came up, I'd give it a chance - just maybe wouldn't go out of my way. From my own experience, I need to rate something 6.5 minimum to consider it worth seeing - last year there were certainly a few films which fell short of that figure and one so far this year which has only just scraped in!
Re: Case 39
This film has been out in America for a while now, and I got to see it. I agree with the average rating on IMDB. Nothing special, and fell short of my expectations. I will not spoil the film for people, but for those of you who want to know why I didn't like the film too much:
There is no explanation as to why the girl is the way she is, which is the part I usually enjoy.
Re: Case 39
I saw the trailer for this at least six months ago.
i'm not sure why all the delayed release dates (rumours were originally it's pretty bad) but I'll be interested to read all your reviews on here after the screening on Thursday.

Curious film, it's good to go in not reading anything about the film, I was certainly expecting a drama but it definitely becomes something else an hour in. It is really contrived and "hokey", but strangely watchable. I'll save the "surprise" for other people (but most people can work it out from the beginning), I am giving it 3.5/10 but a really watchable 3.5/10!!! And not the kind of film I expect Renee Zellweger to normally be in.

Re: Case 39
It was pretty rubbish. I'm all for suspension of disbelief but this film takes the piss. I've never seen The Ring myself but my gf pointed out how mighty similar the two films are. Glad it was free, is the nicest thing I can say about it.
102 Different free films seen in 2010 plus 2 repeat viewings and a few tv show screenings... not too shabby. Thanks to everyone for their contributions here.

Not the greatest of films. I give it a watchable 6/10.
It was a mix of TV movie thriller with some Final Destination moments and a couple jump out your seat scenes (and a very loud scream at Lee Valley

Re: Case 39
I saw this in Kingston last night. I quite enjoyed this film. Full of suspense and lots of 'jumpy' moments. The actress playing Lilleth was very good. It was slightly perturbing when there was a technical hitch and the film stopped at a crucial moment! Still it gave me a chance to catch my breath, calm down a bit ready to get sucked in again.
I like horrors and psychological thrillers. I'd give this film a solid 6/10.

Re: Case 39
I saw this in Kingston too, I was a bit suprised on how few people were at the the screening (about 50)
Its not the best film ive seen but its certainly not the worst. 5 or 6 jump out of your seat moments and I was glad for the technical pause at a key moment, because I had dropped my last werthers original chocolate under my seat and I needed the lights on to find it..
Ill give it 6/10
