Yay that was ME! Hey Kev!
God I loved the movie, best movie I have seen in years. Yes the whole allocated seating debacle was a pain in the ass as was the IDing thing but luckily I had tickets in my own name. Would definitely see this again in the future. I thought Leo was excellent as was Ellen Page. I've only seen her in Juno to date and think she's a really great actress. As for the plot it was a really wild rollercoaster ride! I was a little closer to the screen than I'd have liked but hey ho.

10/10 from me

absolutely livid at the sheer incompetence at Stratford, most cinemas u just show print off and enter but this cinema had us queuing for an hour just to issue us with a proper ticket i mean what was the point...also worst cinema ive been to absolutely no leg room we were near the beginning of isle g and had to get up every 5 seconds to let some one through.....the term "can of sardines"comes to mind

on a positive note film was good as i had expected even with all its complexities, very intriguing, plot was genius

sorry to hear that

I went all the way to Clapham and leaving my experiment for this movie with good reviews in mind but a little disfavor of Leo (though he has been in many great movies!). First time went for screening and asked for ID, then given real tix. My hubby and I were seated in the same row but separated by 4 people. Thanks to all the nice guys then moved a seat next to them so we finally could seat together. And surprise surprise, my seat was next to my mates. yeayyy :cheer:

The movie really surpass my expectation o/ . I would imagine it'll be brilliant at IMAX (flying glasses, exploding bricks) . I especially love when
Ariadne constructed the cubic city and they climbed and walked on the road
8-) in 3D will be a dream comes true (dream.... :winktongue: ).
By the way, my thought Dom was shot by old Saito and gone to deeper limbo and meeting his kids was part of his dream wanting it to be as real as possible...the top didn't stop. Besides my hubby pointing out, when Leo called his kids at the early movie, one of them sounds like 12 or so and the other sound like 5. And yet when he met them in the end, they were both still really small.
But that's how we perceived Inception. :D Loved the movie and it's an easy 9.5 from us (
minus 0.5 cause the director left us hanging and predicting our own ending
) hehehe

I first saw Ellen Page in Hard Candy, and I agree that she's a great actress.

Stratford Picture House, what a joke. Today I was reminded why I dislike that cinema (I haven't pa*d to see anything there for about 10 years) and it is not just the dodgy legroom in their screens - forget it only affecting the 6 footers, I'm about 5'8 and my legs were aching! Was sitting there for about 3 hours though, considering it didn't start until after 7pm - and I felt it was only fair to wait until they got everyone in, a lot of those people were not 'stragglers' trying to rock up at 6.25pm, that queue was getting out of control, winding outside from about 5.50pm! Lucky it had stopped raining!

I got there about 5.35 and got my tickets. At that point there wasn't a big queue, I maybe had 2-3 people / groups in front of me and most were kids so I thought they were coming for another screening. I was asked for ID which luckily wasn't a problem (I was wondering if this affected any fmukers - sorry to hear your experience Jem, that is unfortunate). The Stratford box office didn't ask for ID for Heartbreaker recently. But it was a different person today and the woman was quite firm that we had to take what we were given in terms of allocated seating so we were fairly close to the front. I said I thought this was unfair as we arrived early to get better seats but she got a bit flustered and I just left it. By the time I looked back (at about 5.45pm) the queue was at the door - maybe 8-10 people, felt lucky that I came when I did. Ironically the people who came later probably got what I would call the better seats - I should have just got there at about 6.15pm!

I totally blame Stratford and their box office arrangements for the shambles and late start, i.e only one person at the box office, insisting on issuing allocated seating tickets (I wonder if other people argued with her about this more than I did and it held up the queue further??). I will send an email to their management about it. If they are going to host more previews then they need to be better prepared - they are probably not used to that many people attending the cinema at the same time! We were also probably competing with the Orange Wednesday crowd too.

Anyway on to the film. I thought this was very good, but can't honestly rave about it being the best film I have ever seen - feel disappointed in saying that as I wanted to share that feeling that some of you had but it wasn't there. I wonder if I need to see it again as there were bits I didn't understand. If I think about it too much, it just makes less sense (in some places). I really liked the concept and felt like I had never seen anything like that before so that was enjoyable. I was definitely gripped by the action in places. Leo was great but not sure about his chemistry with Marion Cotillard (is that possible, I thought he could have good chemistry with anyone!)

Great effects - I could totally imagine this in 3D or watching it at the IMAX and being in total awe. Maybe I'll try to catch it again on a more magnificent screen.

Think I agree with wolverina2411's second spoiler- that didn't fit for me. Def worth watching but need to follow closely (or maybe not too closely as over-thinking it may add to confusion?!?). 8.5/10 for film, 2/10 for Stratford Picture Hse.

Am I the only person who did not like this film?

The film was technically good and the story was interesting enough but I felt no empathy for any of the main characters and so really did not care if they lived or died. My emotional investment in the film was therefore nil and I felt a bit cheated as my friend had emailed me the following comment:

“Phew… I feel battered! It’s definitely not relaxing, but it IS extremely good and VERY interesting. You’re going to enjoy it. Bit confusing to start… just go with it.”

I think that because I was so emotionally detached from the characters, it was easier to follow the story, which I began to find extremely tedious. I wish that it had been screened in 3D, so that I might have become more immersed in the effects. I certainly think that this would have been very appropriate for the dream within a dream sequence.

Because it was technically a good film, I would score it 8/10 and I think that it could well go on to develop cult status. However on a personal level, I would only score it 3.5/10 and have no desire to ever see it again!

I was also at Clapham and not happy that the film started 20 minutes late, which meant that I did not get home much before 11.00. I was really grateful that Superhero had done a name change for me as I was also asked for ID. There was total chaos when I arrived with four different queues with people not knowing which queue was for what and being moved from one to another. We were allocated numbered seats which resulted in even further chaos as people did not sit in seats allocated and had to be moved by cinema staff. We also had a couple of people patrolling up and down throughout the film, checking people with night vision glasses. It is the first Picturehouse screening that I have been to – are they all like this?

I definitely agree with you about the lack of emotional attachment, 5rannoch.
I've posted my thoughts here:
http://www.smartinnameonly.co.cc/2010/07/15/inception/

I'd rate the film an 8.5/10 because the action was great and the plot gripping, but I'm still as annoyed by Nolan as I am impressed.

hey, we meet again :D

yes was a nightmare, the worst part of the experience though was the seating, as you may have noticed, i did have to fidget, and i hate to be a fidget :wall: but with that amount of leg room, impossible not to :X

i loved the movie too and thought leo and that ellen page did great, leo is such an excellent actor now, the movie did confuse me at times though, not as bad as shutter island though, i watched that the other day and was confused throughout most the movie, i need to find a way to train my brain for these kind of movies i think, not sure if i have to watch more movies like this so i do not get confused or what, but hopefully one day movies like them will not confuse me much

i think 2 or 3 rows back would have been better possibly, good thing the screen was not too massive i guess

I've read all the fabulous reviews on here and wondered if I'd watched a different film, and then to my relief read 5rannoch's thoughts and agreed.

It was technically brilliant but left me numb on an emotional level, I felt nothing for the characters. I know it's an effects driven blockbuster film with an interesting concept but expected more from Nolan.
5/10

I was going to see this again but now will give it a miss, may p*rchase a ticket for Frightfest instead... that's as long as they don't use that dreadful screen 2 at the Empire!

Saw this at the Cameo in Edinburgh last night. Dreadful weather absolutely pouring down so surprised at the cinema being full. Bags were searched as we went in and as it started to fill up an announcement was made that they still had over twenty people waiting to get in so everyone was to move up and finally got the film started 15 minutes late.

I got confused at some points but it was a good action film. I must say I agree that I didn't "bond" with the characters - to busy trying to keep track of where they were in which dimension of dreams!!!
