Have now read 1.2 books in the TIme travel group of the Goodreads website.

The first was The Man Who Folded Himself. I initally gave it 3/5 for its inventiveness but I did not enjoy reading it...strange rating for a book I didnt enjoy, I'm inclined to change it to 2/5. The problem with the book is its obsession with sex (all kinds). It flipping dominated the book but time travel complexities were very clever hence the high marks.

Now I have read the first 13 chapters of the groups next book read of the month, Up the Line. And thats as far as I will go. Again, there is an obsession with sex that dominates the book. Sex is fine in books, but for Christ sake I dont want to bloody read it on every page, especially when I am expecting a time travel adventure story. One other problem is these books are written in the 60s when political correctness did not exist. I dont mind that actually but this book is pretty heavy on being unpc and is very distracting. And lastly, the protagonists are very unlikeable.

Starting a book called Twinkle in Time, a YA time travel story. Thought I get back to a bit more innocence with YA/children fiction :D

Hey Val, read your first book review on the Goodreads, yay, well done! Write more o/

I have never read Time Travel books where sex is a dominant subject, what Goodreads group did you join? :P

I'm still very keen to start reading Timeriders but it seems my to read pile is never shrinking, so I haven't gotten to it yet..

I'm sure you'll get round to reading it soon, as its only number 50 on your queue which I calculate you'll get through in approximately 3 weeks at your reading rate :P

Oh dear. Just remember to discuss a safe word!

My reading queue is not in any particular reading order though, it just shows when I added them :P I get sent books over post quite often for review, then there is my bookclub reads and series that I read which get a new installment released, all of which means that my reading queue on Goodreads never gets shorter.

My friend's friends work did a recommended books listing. Thought I'd add it, in case some were of interest....

• One Day and Shantaram seem to be the favourites.
• Strangers - Chils Alan hollinghurst
• Freedom - Jonathon Frantzen
• Touching the Void
• Dispatches – Michael Herr – which apparently is the best book John Le Carre has ever read on war in our time.
• The Help
• Water for Elephants
• A fine balance
• Douglas Kennedy books
• The room
• The book thief
• Anything by Christopher Isherwood – A Single Man, Christopher and his kind, Goodbye Berlin
• When God was a Rabbit
• Freedom – Jonathan Franzen
• The Strangers Child – Alan Holinghurst
• The Upright Piano Player – David Abbott
• Middlesex – Jeffrey Eugenides
• The Line of Beauty – Alan Holinghurst
• The Therapist – D Yalon
• Cloud Atlas – David Mitchell
• So your girlfriend’s a vegetarian – Adam Shaw
• The Decisive Moment – Johan Lehrer
• 59 Seconds – Robert Wiseman
• The Twilight Saga
• Anything by Robert Rankin
• The Star is My Destination
• Just Kids by Patti Smith

I can't get over how many books you guys read in a week! Are they tiny books hehe?

As for my review, most of it was the publishers blurb but I do intend to try and do more on my own. Audiobook at the moment is The Help and normal book is a crime thriller, The Drowning Man by Michael Robothom, 2nd in the series, and I'm going to work through them all. Eventually
preferred locations Shepherds Bush, Westfield, Notting Hill, Central London, Wimbledon, Islington, Wandsworth thanks

Do you mean me? No, most of them are thick with a few chick-lits etc thrown in for when I want a quick read ;)

When God Was A Rabbit is a book of two halves with the second half being a severe disappointment. Don't read Twilight if you value plot and/or good writing :P

steve wrote:Jus read a brilliant book whilst on hols, think it's the type you'd either love or hate no inbetween. It was called The Glass Book Of Dream Eaters, by G. W. Dahlquist. Now I usally read either si/fi-fantasy or crime but occasionally go for something a bit different. This was different. It is set in a fictional steam/punk Victorian era. It's almost like a boys own story for adults with a bit of erotica thrown in, quite a bit of erotica. Sounds like one for Sydney. You need to get past the first couple of chapters and you'll either be hooked or give up on it. I don't want to give the story away so just give it a try.
