Re: The Smurfs
This film does not look very good. I would never see it even if it was free.

Re: The Smurfs
I think it might surprise a few people. There was a screening at the Soho hotel on Tuesday and I think it went on general release yesterday. I much rather use my voucher for this than Glee....(now just waiting for the abuse from all the glee fans....haha)

Re: The Smurfs
I think it actually did really well so far in the US, despite it not being an overhyped release such as Harry Potter, so who knowssuperhero wrote:The fact it's already out on general release and not a word from anyone...hmmm

Re: The Smurfs
It's getting a lot of mixed reviews from critics, some are saying it's a really good movie and then others are saying parents will regret taking their kids. I think i'll just wait till one of ours goes to see it, I know my sister was really excited about it.

Re: The Smurfs
I took my child to see that with Odeon 40% vouchers... (still pa*d over 10 pounds!)
I was surpised how busy was the previous screening and our screening for a Friday afternoon on a lovely sunny day for a full price movie which is on for quite a while!
I thought we'll be the only ones in the screen
but we were so not!
A lot of children who couldn't behave properly with adults who didn't care!
Anyway, it's not a masterpiece, 3D is not bad with some nice 3D effects in place, but if you have a chance to see it several weeks later in the kids club in 2D for next to nothing _ just wait!
For me Hank Azaria was a jewel in it! He was brilliant! I enjoyed watching him and his cat much more then I enjoyed watching smurfs. Surely it wasn't intended this way!
For some reason the movie reminded me of gnomeo and juliet, only gnomeo and juliet was much much better and funnier!
4,5 out of 10 (and that is for Hank Azaria and his cat!)

Re: The Smurfs
I hated smurfs when I was a kid ! its true. they seemed like a pathetic excuse to sell bits of plastic to dumb kids with more money than sense in their family.
This movie isnt too bad though, considering its a kids film. Some of it is quite bad - the repeated use of the word smurf is VERY lazy pseudohumour. The imagery of smurfs (not the 3d, but their bodies had no depth) was a little bit of a letdown. Girl smurf wasnt hot.
But it delivers enough to be a smurf movie for kids, and that should be enough. The wizard guy is the only really fun thing in it, in a buffoon kind of way.
