The 35th annual César awards – France’s equivalent of the Oscars – take place in Paris Saturday night (watch the event on france24.com from 8:30pm GMT+1). This year’s mistress of ceremonies is Marion Cotillard, winner of two Césars and an Oscar, and the latest French actress to find success across the Atlantic. She will be flanked by popular French entertainers Valérie Lemercier and Gad Elmaleh, who will undoubtedly add a light comedy touch to the evening.
Top picks

Basically, A Prophet won most things (and Tahar Rahim won best actor as well as most promising newcomer of the year), but Harrison Ford got a lifetime achievement award, and Gran Torino got best overseas film.

Re: A Prophet
It was good to see the film winning at the Baftas but I can't believe it got snubbed at the Oscars for some random unknown Argentinian movie!
Admittedly I haven't seen the Argentinian film yet, but then again I doubt many people have?! (And yes, I'm going out and b*ying a hat just so I can eat it in case I see the film and it's better than A Prophet...
