I win! I got 28 bars and 3 bags of popcorn. And I won a book ;)

I also really enjoyed the screening, although I agree that I still couldn't pick out the characters by the end of the 2nd episode.

I thought being a TV mini-series, there would be more setting up of the characters in the beginning, but there was a little of that and alot of action for the first 2 episodes, which I guess isn't bad for us watching in that cinema. I do agree its annoying that Sky keeps bigging up The Pacific, instead of letting people just enjoy it; as people might be let down by the hype. It's hard to judge something having only seen a 1/5 of it, but there is little character introduction in the first 2 episodes, so I am only giving it 5/10
If you were after popcorn and chocolate, you should have sat in the front section, I think there were only like a handful of people sitting there, but tonnes of popcorn and chocolate goodies...

I completely agree with many of the reviews that I've read. The whole thing was just a series of battle scenes morphed together, there was no time to connect with any of the characters, I came away unable to name or pinpoint any of the main characters and not really caring about what happened/happens to them. The very graphic action scenes had little or no effect on me whatsoever, I found it a little reminiscent of the early scenes in 'Saving Private Ryan' but not as effective. opas could be right, maybe it's very much a guys drama. Anyway after a long day at work and a long journey to the cinema I managed to catch a few Zzz's before picking up my goodie bag and making my way home.

On the bright side I loved the Goodie Bags! Never seen these at a screening before, Thanks Sky it made me feel so special (doesn't take much), I hope that this might be a trend that continues, also loved the venue the cinema was very spacious, comfortable seats and a massive screen what more could you ask for...a decent film!

Nice set-up, shame about the show (3/10)

The programme I had smelt like someone sprayed some perfume on it even! And that Sky bag's quite nice isn't it...
I was trying to resist, but there was an empty seat beside me, so I went for another bag of popcorn :nono:

It's not ideal, but hey it's still London. When I was filling in their feedback survey, they are suppose to be having previews for the Pacific outside of London too....but I haven't seen it advertised anywhere

If anyone's interested, the BFI Southbank are holding an HBO weekend, which will include another chance to see episodes 1 and 2 on the big screen. The weekend also includes the European premiere of the first episode of David Simon's new show 'Treme' and a screening of Jack Kevorkian biopic 'You Don't Know Jack' starring Al Pacino followed by a Q&A with director Barry Levinson.
