Had wedding on Saturday and daughter running Edinburgh Half Marathon on Sunday (Which was an absolute farce.. Badly organised) so could not find any flights to Lisbon that were suitable so booked for Brussels in the hope of having a potter about at home.

Just my luck :tears:  Storms yesterday and just as bad today with heavy showers. Trying to do the garden but not much fun at all and certainly not a day for a beach walk today or yesterday.

Now looking very unlikely we will get to Brussels :tears: Too late to book train at realistic price so looks as if I will be staying at home till Tuesday unless things change drastically. Then of course, could get stuck over there if the ash cloud shifts.

Dont know if it transpires Ryanair only one flying if I would like to get on the plane either. Was sooo looking forward toa break as well.
What a nightmare.....book an extra special holiday in the near future to make up for it MM.

I got stuck last year in Portugal and had to spend 2 days on a bus getting home. We got our money back for flight....Ryanair....but insurance didn't compensate for the money we had to p*y out to get back. Just finished p*ying for that holiday. Do not reccommend flying or facing the possibbility of getting stuck when that black cloud is hovering :nono:

I hope you get away. "He" will just have to deal with it if you get stuck. Lorna there got stuck in Thailand a couple of years ago and they were ok with it.

Fingers crossed for you

If I was flying today, I would be okay, as only northern German airports are shut, and the ash cloud has turned away from the UK. But it is set to return on Friday so if it does, I will not be okay to fly, regardless of whether the German airports will be open. I am so stressed out by this.

Could you go by boat MM?? I was so glad this year that i was in the UK and travelling by car and ferry. Mind you, the weather was so wild the ferry almost got cancelled too but i think the worst of the gales are behind us......just like this cloud

Sorry to hear your troubles MM and hope you get away today and back in time. Even if the "Big cheese" at work is okay if you get stuck there it still gives you a whole load of stress that you could do without.

Glad we opted for a few days down here in Yorkshire!! Been very windy but not nearly as bad as back in Edinburgh.
