nicest cinema to see a film on sunday

#1 Post by hottips » Fri May 20, 2011 8:54 am

ok fmukers, I need your help. I intend to go to the cinema with 'someone rather special' on Sunday to see 13 assassins. The film is not showing at many cinemas and I haven't been to very many of the one's where it is due to be showing so I was wondering if you had any ideas on the best one to go to in terms of ambiance, sound, seating etc and local area. It's showing at:

Curzon Soho
Curzon Richmond
Renior
Cineworld Shafesbury Avenue

I know that the Curzon Soho used to be nice, but I was wondering what the Curzon Richmond is like. It sounds like it could be a lovely afternoon down by the riverside but since the movie is all part of the plan I need to be comfortable if I'm going to be p*ying for a moving and sitting down for hours I would like to make the most of it.

Any thoughts, has anyone been to any of these cinemas lately?

My thoughts exactly. It should not even be considered unless there is nowhere else showing a film.

I've never been to any of the others so can't offer an opinion I'm afraid.

I take your point I've been to shaftesbury avenue for screenings so it isn't up for consideration. Has anyone been to any of the others? I think it is between Richmond and soho

Well if you're seeing 13 Assassins, you could grab some sushi in Soho to make it a themed evening..

Richmond Curzon is very nice, small so we always sit as far back as possible. You can get a glass of wine but NO popcorn which is great.
And there are loads of places to eat or drink or just walk around by the river. Recommended.
Hope you have a good time wherever you go,
Preferred Cinemas :
Richmond, Kingston, West End, Wimbledon, Shepherds Bush, Clapham, Westfield, Fulham

Sushi in Soho sounds like a good idea, however since we have most of the day I think that Richmond sounds like a nice relaxing bet now. Jeancomp thanks for the feedback - I'll try and get there early to bag some good seats (and I'm praying that the seats are comfy)

What about on a Friday? What's the nicest cinema on that day?
102 Different free films seen in 2010 plus 2 repeat viewings and a few tv show screenings... not too shabby. Thanks to everyone for their contributions here.

I would have said Greenwich Picturehouse but I have just seen that the last day of showing this film was yesterday.

Yeap. The Greenwich Picturehouse was my first choice as it is only down the road from me, but since it is not showing on Sunday we'll have to go somewhere else.
