Footloose
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1068242/
Went to a screening of this today at Vue West End. There was a free bar again which OH totally happened to miss, he was too busy looking out for people we know, but we saw no one.
We were some of the first people in the screening room at 6.30pm and got some great seats in the back (lots of legroom for OH) but unfortunately two latecoming girls proceeded to be annoyingly fidgety and talkative next to us. It started 10 minutes late and there was a lot of to-ing and fro-ing to the toilets (no wonder with all the free booze beforehand).
I haven't seen the original with Kevin Bacon for ages but was it really that tame? A few things like the book-burning were left out but it just didn't have the bite the original had. There was a bit of dancing in it, but the rest of the plot was boring, and Dennis Quaid as reverend was actually a likeable character, because other than in the original, he had a reason borne out of grief for his actions.
It's also terrifying to see actors who are only maybe 10 years older than me looking old on screen. I have grown up with some of these actors and it seems strange that they don't look 30 anymore!
6/10

Re: Footloose
I remember liking the original as a teenager but, like Beate, I don't think I have seen it since. Footloose and Flashdance really made an impact in the 80s scene though.

Re: Footloose
Would you say that the film is better than the trailer suggests?

Re: Footloose
Blimey - why bother watching the film - the trailer gives the whole story away in almost chronological order! The film is just an extended version of this trailer - I am kind of glad I didn't see it before.
Re: Footloose
i saw this too and loved the free bar
but on to the film, which i surprising enjoyed thought it could have involved more dancing (or more impressive dancing anway) with the characters as thought they didnt really dance as much as i would have liked but the story line wasnt too bad
7.5/10 ( +1 for the free bar)

Re: Footloose
I seen this too last night.
I quite enjoyed it. Ok definitely not as good as they original but what remake is?!
But like the others haven't seen the original in years.
I really liked the characters two friends They were quite funny.
And compared to some of the movies I have seen lately (kill list, drive). It was really good.
My mum loved it. She wants to see it again.
