Strictly Come Dancing

#1 Post by andrews » Tue Sep 22, 2009 9:55 pm

OK, we've got a thread for X-Factor, so what about one for Strictly? I love it! And I haven't seen Friday or Saturday's episodes, because of other committments 8O - and not looking at TV listings. :wall:
Can I catch up with this somewhere online? Someone is sure to know. I don't even know who the stars are this season...lot of catching up to do. :D

I love this programme, I usually get totally addicted. I recorded it and watched it last night, but I thought 2 programmes over an hour long each was too long and there seems to be so many contestants this year, I think it will be better when a few of them have been knocked out!!

i like strictly i agree anneJ is was on a little too long and we didn't get to see all the contestants in the knock out competition in the first week again! it is much better when there is just 1 group left then you can compare them better.

what does anyone think about the bad reviews over Alesha Dixon? i don't think she was ever going to get a glowing report after the way they got rid of Arlene, i think arlene has more dance knowlege and better to comment the form of the dancers but Alesha has been there done that so knows the way the contestants feel.

I agree with you!

The BBC have had lots of compaints about Alesha and rightly so, I don't think Alesha is qualified enough to be a judge on Strictly, I know she has been through the experience but I do think she only got the job because she is so attractive! She had 4 months of training whereas the professional dancers have years of experience. I think a much more worthy judge would have been Karen Hardy.

You're right that she was never going to be treated farily, but that appears to be par for the course... You're also right that she's been there and done it but surely that qualifies her to present the backstage element of the show, not judge. I really liked Alesha in the show so was disappointed at her judging. She's not a professional and doesn't have the knowledge for constructive feedback. All Alesha talks aboutis flyaway / floppy / [insert adjective here] arms. Repetetive and irritating. Plus weird hair in the first show.

A Craig-worthy 3/10 from me.

I do love Strictly.

To be fair I have been saying similar things about Alisha Dixon as I don't think she should be on there as she isn't professional. She also seems to be far too nice! I don't think she is ever going to say anything bad about anyone and I think this is just going to make her role a mockery. Why couldn't they have had 3 judges or have had Darcy Bustle from the beginning?

On a different note, I think that Gary from Eastenders - I'm rubbish with names - may be the dark horse this year! He did a really good ballroom for a first timer, had the poise and everything.

Boyf won't admit it, but he enjoys watching this with me! He likes to laugh at the faces the celebs make during their performance. :D

Missed the second show last week, so will check out Spanner's link - thanks Spanner! :p

It's a shame Alesha's getting a bad wrap, I was surprised to find she was the new judge, but it was only the first week and after seeing SOME press, surely she will step up her game and start cracking the whip. While she isn't a pro, she was a winner of the show a couple of years ago, I suppose that's a big reason why she sympathises with the contestants and doesn't claw into them so much. I don't think it would've mattered what she did, the press would've been all over her anyway. C'mon Alesha - step it up!!

Agree with what is being said above re Alesha - needs to prove them all wrong if she's not going to be the Kelly Brook of Americal Idol...

BTW just remembered - thought it was a bit predictable that she would
vote for Matthew Cutler... shame he's out (already can't remember who his celeb was! oops), but at least it takes that aspect out of the show...
:undecided:
