The Health Thread
Hi everyone,
Wondering if you can help me. I have had the Norovirus since Wednesday night, I've stopped being sick for the past few hours now, but what's keeping me awake is the awful sore throat I have. A friend brought me round some of that "paracetamol suspension" liquid medicine earlier, which I've just taken. It feels like there are razor blades in my throat. Does anyone have any other tried & tested ways to soothe a sore throat?! Oh have also been sucking those honey & lemon Strepsils.
Thanks so much!
From a rather tired Clare x

This is a version of what I've used in the past for a sore throat. Some people gargle with Aspirin but this has never worked for me personally. The most important thing with Noro is to keep your fluids up; lemonade is perfect. And keep an eye on your paracetamol intake. I wish you well and a speedy recovery, it is truly awful.

Re: Norovirus
Sorry to hear you are not feeling well ClareBarr.
Sucking an ice lolly or ice cubes numbs the pain of a sore throat and aslo keeps you hydrated. Hope it helps a bit.

Hope that you soon feel better Clarebarr
If you can cope with it a salt water mouth wash will help but the ones which the others have said are more pleasant.

Re: The Health Thread
I've used this before now but check it against any meds you are already taking.

Re: The Health Thread
Thanks all :) am able to sit up now (so good to be out of bed!). Still struggling to eat, as my throat is so painful, but will try some of the remedies you've suggested x
