I found it confusing the only time I did this. On the map it looked straightforward but there was so much building work etc it felt as if we were going round in a big loop to get there.
I was told by the security guard there that the route that we had taken was the correct one - following the bus route round from the station (I had thought that there must have been a quicker way). On the way back, we just got on a bus as they are quite frequent.

Go to google maps and type in the postcode and canada water stations. Use get directions and change the setting from car to walking. I found their routes are very precise and easy to follow and often use them when I have to walk! (Even found a short cut to walk to work which saved me 15 minutes!!!)

I don't think this link will work but if it does, this is the route from CW station to SQ http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&tab=wl

Hi AnneJ, do you mean that you would like an alternative to Canada Water or good directions when you get out of Canada Water Station? I know it is so confusing when you come out of the station, especially now they have closed the exit that took you to the road that leads to the cinema.

I usually use the tesco as my guide, if I can get to the tesco then I know I'm on the right path! But you are right you can end up going round the houses with it. Someone might be able to advise a bit better than me but next time I go I plan on doing a left out of the station and following the surrey quays road all the way round. It is is not the shortest route but you can't really go wrong by following the road - if you try the cut throughs it gets confusing as the water divides it all.

When you come out of the station at Canada Water cut through the shopping centre car park, going past Tesco's then follow the road round, I think you cross a small bridge and a little way on you will see the retail park where the cinema is. I think this route is quite direct, and is about a 5 minute walk.

You know, I have never been to Surrey Quays, mainly because I never quite knew how to get there and how long the walk would take, so this is hugely useful, thanks!

It is along walk now! It's brilliant if you have a car so quick to get to and car park right outside (free too I think - well I've never pa*d so I guess it must be!) but going for the station???! Awful. When I went to see The Hangover, my friend could only make that screening so we went to that one instead of Wedst India Quays (because someone had to go to the Beyonce concert ). We just barely got there for 6.30pm! It took an hour and ten minutes from Canary Wharf underground (mind you it was rush hour also) and my friend made me walk real fast from Canada Water. Infact while he was walking, I was running to catch up! For that reason, I have decided that until I get a car, I won't be going to it because it's too hard of a journey! I do not like walking. :nono:
