FMUK Picnic in the Park 2013

#1 Post by Beate » Sat Jun 29, 2013 8:51 pm

Ok, let's not clog up the Handy Tips and Tricks thread any longer.
How about a picnic in a public park at a weekend in August in London? Let's talk about parks, dates and food - everyone ought to bring something along that people can eat or drink and it shouldn't just be cake, LOL.

I can do any weekend in August, my personal fabourite would be Greenwich Park (obviously) and I would bring savoury snacks.

This sounds like fun and I'd be happy to come along if I can make the date. Would definitely prefer August over July (though I don't think I can do the bank holiday weekend) and need to think about what food to bring...

I would love to if it happens to be 25th/26th August as already in London. I will be in Greenwich on the Monday anyway.

You need to be sure DLR is working that weekend if in Greenwich.

I vote for Highbury Fields.

Thanks for that we're meeting MrG (he's kindly letting me be his plus 1 on his Greenwich pass so just have to p*y for my DD who is a student) and doing the Cutty Sark etc so hopefully he'll keep me posted :cross: Thanks for letting me know, I'm already travelling via Sheffield as no direct trains from Manchester on the Sunday and this way saves me £100 8O

If it doesn't happen to be the weekend I'm there we could have satellite ones throughout the country if people aren't able to travel and I'm happy to organise the Manchester one. o/ If this is the case I will post on the regional boards otherwise it gets confusing.

If I can make it, I'd be up for a picnic! It's always fun when people bring random food. o/ (August is the Camden Fringe though, so I may well be busy seeing 5 shows back to back.)

I vote for something near a tube station, chosen with the help of this:

Brilliant looking forward to catching up again and I'm sure that MrG would be up for a spot of lunch.

Thanks for the Camden info as it will be good for my Sunday evening. I won't have anywhere to cook so it will be shop b*ght what I bring.

Brilliant Idea !

I am definately in if its in August and the bank holiday should be fine for me too, its still very early days but i'm sure it will be fineI

I dont mind any park, if its just going to be a few of us and most are going to be in Greenwich already then Greenwich would be fine , a bit far for me but I would still come down :)

But a more central location would be better for all Londoners who are coming from different parts of London and thats where Regents Park would be perfect, its reaaaaaallly nice in the summer , for those who are interested you can even rent small boats to travel around the lake , some people even have their lunches on the boats, also for the roller skaters and roller boarders out there this park is perfect , bring your skates and enjoy, the atmosphere and crowd are wonderful.

Also up until 7th September the Regents Park open air theatre is staging 'The Sound of Music' if that is of interest to any parties, its pa*d tickets though (cheapest i think is about £25) and has evening shows too for those that wish to stay behind after the picnic and attend the show

Also please be aware that the designated picnic areas in the London parks have limits on how many guests you have in your party , regents park allows the most out of all the parks along with Hyde park and Richmond park at 40 guests, please see this guide for info http://www.royalparks.org.uk/parks/the- ... rk/picnics

And heres heres the link for the actual park itself

Wow, I didn't even know there are number restrictions! To be honest, a lot of people are away in August or don't want to come down to London yet again so I somehow don't think we'll get the same number as for FMUKCON but we'll see.
