Despite being an Aronofsky fan I wasn't overly interested in catching this but I have to admit the trailers below have changed that:

Re: Noah
That was apalling!
Filmhouse, Edinburgh couldn't organise a premiere to save themselves!
Over 2 hours standing in a non-moving queue outside in the bitter cold, despite having a ticket. No communication from Filmhouse staff regarding situation - they just seemed bewildered.
Smart dress code? My arse! Allocated ticket seating? My arse! Tickets allocated at 3.30pm? My arse! Photographic ID required? My arse!
I know we are spoiled with normal previews, but that was pathetic. I would have been embarassed if I had managed to take a +1.
The movie?
A bit meh tbh.
The first few frames seemed to be a harbinger of what was to come. It was like Sunday School for 3 year olds.....captions explaining Genesis. Then nothing much happened other than Noah's Ark - more like Noah's Shed. Then there were some monsters. Monsters? In The Bible? I think the monsters took all of the cgi budget though as the animals, such as we saw glimpses of were in terms of cgi more Scooby Doo than Life of Pi. Oh - and some very ropey animated animal/snake sequences that were repeated at least 3 times over. Lazy, lazy, lazy.
Didn't realise that Ray Winstone's King character would be a cockney gangster. Also didn't realise that they had welding helmets - he was wearing one when he was forging weapons, nor that they had cannon/bazuka/mortars in The Bible.
Didn't help that I was still thawing out by the time this yawn fest finally rolled to a close. What a pity Javert never launched into song - even if it might have been just a hymn.
And here endeth the movie. Amen.
5/10
Great to see marjaree, Yinster and alythonian though. 3 roses in a thorn of an afternoon.

Re: Noah
I was going to post this under Frozen as that's how I still feel. Arrived Filmhouse before three given tickets and told we were attending the premiere, my foot. No info heres my letter to Paramount
I am writing to you after a shambolic waste of five and a half hours this afternoon. After the excitement of gaining a voucher for the premiere in Edinburgh with Russell Crowe and realising I would have to be there early for a ticket as per your email yesterday I arrived at the cinema and joined the queue before three o clock.
At three fifteen we were given tickets with a star and told we were guaranteed to be attending the premiere and would be let in just after four o'clock. I understand it might run a bit late but worth waiting another hour in the freezing cold to attend the premiere. No leaving and loosing our place we had to stay put.
At about 5.15 we were eventually led into the café told to wait, no one knew what was happening. someone was even handing out a big wad of tickets to people who had just turned up. At no point were we told we weren't attending the premiere, then taken to cinema 2 not the premiere a tiny cinema .
Basically we were told rubbish, treated like cattle then watched the film In a tiny cinema no premiere just a preview, which I would certainly not have spent three hours queueing in the cold for.
At no time were we informed of this possibility only we had luckily received our passes for the premiere. Had we been told this might happen there is no way I would have waited and would have understood but would have at least been able to make a choice.
Really disappointed you think you can treat people in this way
Really clouded my judgement of the film and paramount, perhaps just not run very well
I would appreciate your comments
This has been such a waste of time and as for the film, bearng in mind I was pretty annoyed and cold and a warm cinema would have been heaven (cinema two was also freezing) the film certainly wasn't. CGi was dreadful. Probably should go straight to DVD
Sorry about the rant

Re: Noah
Was there before 2 with my mum who is almost 82 and can't believe I let her stand out all that time in the cold. Went for coffee to Ryan's when we got out but had to phone hubby to come and get us as lost the feeling in my legs below the knee I could not walk and mum exhausted.
So much for a fun afternoon treat

Re: Noah
scooby - these people - myself included - hadn't just "turned up" but had been waiting in the same queue behind you for the same 2 hours. We were all herded into the cafe. I agree though, no-one checked our e-tickets before and thus there was no point in having queued at all.scooby wrote:

Re: Noah
Sorry Stuartboy didn't realise that, just shows how even more shambolic it was than I thought. The organisation was terrible. The filmhouse and the organisers should realise just where feedback comes from and doesn't reflect on them well or the film.
Lets see if Paramount or the Filmhouse reply

Sorry to hear it was a catastrophe, how could it have been so bad?. Look on the bright side, at least its not the end of the world.
