Clocks Changing - Sunday 25th October

#1 Post by AnneJ » Wed Oct 21, 2009 1:03 pm

The clocks go back an hour this Sunday, which means we can have an extra hour in bed!! I'm not sure if this means that is the start of Autumn or Winter, all I know is that it seems very cold already!! :(

An extra hour in bed! My idea of torture! To me it's swings and roundabouts: when I go out walking in the morning, I don't have to do so much in the dark as it will get light a whole hour sooner (but only at first); however, it will get dark an hour sooner so there's no net gain. Worse, it means I have to be really careful not still to be out in some field or wood when darkness descends, whereas at present I know I can finish a walk in daylight.

does anyone ever actually take the extra hour in bed? the whole change of clocks confuse me for a few days but i love it when they go back as it is dark when am on my way out at night. wow ms Thrifty do you go for a walk twice a day? i don't think the change in time really effects most people. Wasn't the farmers trying to stop the time change in Euro parliment or something?

Me too.. I love it the first day when I wake up at what is usually 7 am to find its still only 6...Nothing like an extra hour in bed....of course, in a couple of days the effects wear off and its the realization that winter is here which unsettles me more...

There have been scientific studies which concluded that people adapt very well to a 25 hour day but suffer when the clock changes back and they get a 23 hour day. I for one look very much forward to an extra hour in bed!

At least those people who usually comment about Sunday morning previews being a bit early will be pleased!

With our luck we probably won't get a preview now this Sunday, LOL!

Sorry, yes, I was forgetting you had already seen An Education. It would now be a little late for another. But there are previews for the next two Sundays, and I can't go because I'm working, so what's the betting there will be none on the Sunday I do have the day off!

remember to go into your user control panel and board preferences to change the time one here (check the 'no' for summer DST) :)
