Blended

#1 Post by Beate » Tue May 20, 2014 9:48 pm

Have to commend the numerous ushers at Tottenham Court Road dealing with a small, booked out screening. They made sure everyone knew where the remaining seats were, blended everyone beautifully and then, once the last seat was gone, shut the door and didn't let anyone else in. Why they didn't put some folding chairs into the many wheelchair spaces will however remain a mystery.

I'll just come right out with it, shall I?

I loved this. I am aware of the fact it's nothing more than feelgood fluff with a preposterous storyline but I thought it was warm and funny and not very gross - I laughed like a drain.
So what if we've seen it all before - people who can't stand each other learn to love each other. The ugly duckling turns into a beautiful swan. The little girl wants a mummy. The little boy wants a daddy to play ball games with. It's really quite conservative plus I did not approve of the ostrich riding but who wouldn't want a holiday in Africa with a little bit of romance thrown in? Though while the daughter's transformation into a young-looking Jessica Chastain was awesome, Drew Barrymore didn't look all that different in the black dress and they could have cut out all the "mouth gaping open in astonishment" shtick.

Still, I enjoyed myself so it gets 8/10.

I really enjoyed this film and as Beate says "we've seen it all before" it was nicely put together and loved the hotel . . .mind you, I don't think I could afford it! :p I chuckled at many scenes and definitely left the cinema with a happy mood. :D
I saw this in a full Glasgow Odeon Quay in the company of deb1, karenlg123 & scootermcc. We shared out the sweets gifted to us by evilzadi on her short visit to Glasgow last week. Thanks, ez! :star:

Obviously McG has forgotten I was there too, even though I ate her sweets....
There are so many bad things that could be said about this film. But i'll leave them unsaid as it was exactly what I needed to see tonight. I enjoyed it, faults and all. Ahhh, Drew.....

Saw this yesterday at a press screening at Cineworld Haymarket, thanks to ritmistry. Shame there were so many empty seats, there were rows and rows with only one or two people.

I really enjoyed this and found Barrymore and Adam Sandler in top form and so was the rest of the cast. The kids are too cute and especially the youngest is so adorable. Feel good, fun.

And we were given a beer with a blended t-shirt on before the screening.

Watched this with McG and the London girls sweets! Enjoyed the sweets more than the movie (thanks ladies)

The movie was a piece of nonsense, typical Adam Sandler recipe, light hearted, no brainer and watchable. Best bit (apart from the sweets) was watching McG chuckle and Deb1 heehaw out loud non stop with laughter! 5/10

Where to start with this? How about - borderline racism? mistreatment of animals? yet another reason never to visit Sun City?

So difficult to decide which were the more irritating, the adults or the children. A painfully dull, overlong, formulaic film that delivers leaden punchlines to highly improbable set-ups. It pushes all the buttons, yet nothing happens. The only funny scene was the surprise cameo from Proteas paceman Dale Steyn. Avoid.

This wasn't as appalling as some of Sandler's other comedies (for example Grown Ups 2 and Jack and Jill) but I still think it could've been a lot funnier, and the majority of the jokes fall flat (rhinos having sex? really?).

4/10
