Paper Towns

#1 Post by raj101 » Sat Aug 29, 2015 4:31 pm

Thought this was pleasant enough, but threatened to get boring in the middle during the "road movie" part. And perhaps it gets annoying that these apparent high school leavers are really enjoying the relaxed care-freedom of well off middleclass-dom, whilst pretending to be just "normal". Nice ending though, augmented by a gloriously sunny soundtrack.

I actually had tickets to a preview of this earlier in the summer, but mistook it for the Paper Planes movie (kids movie) so I never went, silly mistake.

3 stars

I think 'okay' sums it up - it started in an interesting way, but never fully developed. But, that kind of fits with many teen movies.

Interesting fact: In the book, Margo is in fact in the barn, writing over and over and over again in the same journal and when they turn up being all happy that they found her she yells at them and says she never wanted to be found. She's a total b****. Oh and they never make it back in time for prom.

The film was actually a mild improvement.
