Keanu
As far as films released this week that star US comedians that made their name in TV shows go, it would be a shame if Key & Peele's Keanu failed to get a fraction of the audience that the much more publicised Ghostbusters will probably get as it's just as enjoyable.
If anything this tale of a cute kitten, drug dealers and the music of George Michael is even funnier, thanks in part to Key & Peele's hilarious attempts to pass of as gangster in order to retrieve the impossibly cute titular kitten.
While the action side of this is competently handled and doesn't diminish the humour too much which is usually a risk when films try to combine the two.
Admittedly the central concept of two of the least gangster characters getting mistaken for notorious killers is as old as the hills but when it's as funny as this who cares. Plus it's got a cute kitten in it and who doesn't love that.
If you can find a cinema showing it at a decent time it is highly recommended
Oh and any fans of Key & Peele will be glad to know that Liam 'Neesons' makes an appearance of sorts.

Re: Keanu
This is really not a good showcase for the talent and humour of Key & Peele, it's more like one of those forgettable movies a British duo would make after gaining a bit of notoriety.
A good example of the US formula of taking one joke (mistakenly identified as a gangster) and running it in to the ground for a whole movie.
Central Intelligence has a similar premise but is a far more enjoyable film (particularly if you like Kevin Harts other work).

Oh KK, I should have gone with my own instincts instead of allowing your positive comments to sway me. This was dire and no matter how cute the kitten is, this film is not worth watching.kevinknapman wrote:

No wonder very few cinemas are running it.

Re: Keanu
This might not be as bad as it seems, I'm guessing some of the gags relate to American culture that we dont get. It starts strong but goes awry early to middle. There is some good material here though....perhaps they could have made it more family friendly so widen its market.
Theres surely some Matrix and John Wick references that arent lost on us though.
3 stars.
