The Last Station

The Last Station is a love story set during the last year of the life and turbulent marriage of the great Russian writer Leo Tolstoy and his wife the Countess Sofya.

Tolstoy, having rejected his title and embraced an ascetic lifestyle, finds himself increasingly at odds with Sofya. As his devoted disciple Vladimir Chertkov urges him to sign a new will leaving the rights to his work to the Russian people rather than his family, the conflict between husband and wife grows to breaking point.

The Last Station is a film about the difficulty of living with love and the impossibility of living without it.

the london ones appeared to have gone even as I was posting the code, it had only been on MSE a few minutes. Maybe it's best to keep checking in case they release them in batches?

Yes, I did try for Greenwich when I saw Andrews' post earlier but they had already all gone. I wonder why that particular location is so popular, as either all or most of the others still had availability.

It's always the case that the London locations are more popular. And it's a fab cinema.

It is indeed. I saw the Blur documentary there a few weeks ago. But it's still quite tricky to get to if you don't live in that area. I got tickets for Clapham which is a bit more straightforward. It's a shame they don't seem to use the Gate cinema in Notting Hill any more for screenings. I live in West London and that would be ideal.

As for the film, I read the book last year, so it will be interesting to see how it works on screen. It's quite a heavy going book told from about five different viewpoints which can be quite confusing. Took me quite a while to get through it but it's a fascinating look into the life of a famous writer.
