The Infidel
I managed to get the OH and myself and the guest list for the test screening on Thursday at the Genesis Cinema in Whitechapel but am not so sure whether I actually want to go. I have another event I am on the guest list for that night, a free food and drink thing on the Southbank and there is nothing on imdb, and all I have is this description from lovefilm:
David Baddiel presents The Infidel a story of Mahmud Nasir, loving husband, doting father and something of a relaxed Muslim who, after his mother's death, discovers that not only was he adopted at birth but he's actually Jewish.
Starring Omid Djalili and Archie Panjabi, The Infidel is a comedy about family and religion, due for release in cinemas Spring 2010.
Did anyone else get a ticket?

I did too, but I can't get to Mile End by that time, so I will be returning my ticket to the organisers I think

I would go to the southbank do Beate. Sounds more interesting. I didn't apply for tickets for this....Didn't really appeal to me.

Re: The Infidel
If it's a test screening and the release is about 6 months away, does that mean they will re-edit it based on audience reaction? If so, it might be an interesting experience, but it suggests a lack of confidence and I think I would prefer to see the final version. Checked my LFF brochure and it's not showing as part of the festival either. Personally I would pick the event with the least fuss and bother (so no premieres, parties, food, goody bags, etc), but that's a matter of taste.

They do test screenings all the time, but mostly it's in the States. I wouldn't think it's necessarily a lack of confidence in their film. They did test screenings for Harry Potter, Transformers etc....

Re: The Infidel
Did anyone go in the end? I went to the Southbank Centre instead and stuffed my face with canapes.
Re: The Infidel
I really wanted to see the film and was chatting to the producer on twitter yesterday but when it came to it, I was absolutely exhausted after doing a graveyard shift @ work and still having to get up really early this morning.
This was the second test screening of the film and I hope there might be another one because it does sound hilarious and my kind of humour.

Re: The Infidel
I still don't get the point of test screenings if they are not to facilitate re-editing. After all, otherwise they would just be previews, wouldn't they?
