Hachi - A Dog's Tale

#1 Post by Beate » Sun Feb 28, 2010 4:44 pm

or Hachiko: A Dog's Story, which is the non-US title.

I have just seen the most adorable trailer for it on TV (Big Fish on Five), but I can't remember whether it was for the DVD coming out or is it reaching our cinemas? There is no UK release date mentioned on imdb. Directed by Lasse Hallstroem, good reviews on imdb, and the combination of Richard Gere and a dog - sounds like a fabulous weepy!

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0374463/

This heartwarming true story is an American adaptation of a Japanese tale about a loyal dog named Hachiko. This very special friend would accompany his master to the train station every day and return each afternoon to greet him after work. Sadly his master departs one day, passes away and never returns to the station. Hachiko faithfully returns to the same spot at the station the very next day, and every day for the next nine years to wait for his beloved master. During his daily visits, Hachiko touches the lives of many who work near and commute through the town square. He teaches the local people love, compassion and above all unyielding loyalty. Today, a bronze statue of Hachiko sits in his waiting spot outside the Shibuya station in Japan as a permanent reminder of his devotion and love.

I've just watched the trailer on Odeon and it made me cry!!!  Think I would need a extra large box of tissues and waterproof make-up to see this.

Has anyone been to see it?

Just came back from Hatchi - A dog's Tale. Loved it! Beautiful! If you are not sure if you want to see it (that was the case with me) - just go and see it! Yes, there are some  moments, and then some more :crying: :crying: moments. But I wasn't weeping throughout the movie (as I thought I would) I was watching and enjoying it! Highly recommended!

I saw this today at Cineworld, Boldon. It is a heartwarming tale of a dog's fidelity to his master. I loved it - dog lovers must go and see it, non-dog lovers ought to go and see it too. This is one which Beate should not miss! :D

Easily 9/10 from me because the little puppy was so cute, and so was the middle-sized one, and oh, the old guy was lovely too.......

I don't think I could watch this film without getting all weepy. I was devastated the end of an episode of Futurama called "Jurassic Bark"! :crying:

Yes, well that was a truly exceptional episode... even Chuck Norris cried... of course, he can only cry other people's tears but that's another matter...

Hahaha!!! Thanks, AYBG. If Chuck Norris cried, it makes me feel less of a wimp.
