The aristocrats
Dont know if I am posting this in the correct part of the forum, but won two tickets through the sunday herlad to see this film tonight. I can tell you we walked out after ten minutes. I have never seen such sick rubbish in all my life. I credit myself with having a good sense of humour but Im afraid it just didnt stretch to this. Has anyone else seen it and what did they think ?.

I had only heard of the AristoCats so far, and they are lovely.
Are we talking about this film? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0436078/

Re: The aristocrats
Actually saw about twenty minutes of this on More4 or Film4 last year I think.
I'd say I have a very high tolerance for offensive material and sure enough I didn't turn it off because it was shocking, just so very boring.
There's some disturbing imagery described during the telling of the "joke" but after ten minutes or so of constant "shocking" language and scenarios I just got numb to it and it all became very dull.
Actually reminds me a little of 44inch Chest, 10-20mins of extreme language and suddenly it loses all its power and meaning.
Now maybe thats the point, maybe not, but if its not shocking, and the joke isn't funny, you're not left with much - just an indulgent 90 minutes with a bunch of comedians acting like naughty teenagers.
So, after seeing twice as much as you I'd say you made the right decision.
Seems a odd choice of film to show at the cinema, partly because its quite old, and also for it to be a competition prize. Was the competition linked to anything else? seems a bit random.

Not amazing, but I enjoyed it enough, the South Park one, Sarah Silverman (I love it when she can be so nasty), it's simplistically silly enough.

Re: The aristocrats
I saw this with a friend a few months ago... basically it consists of the same joke being told over and over again, but somehow it works (albeit, we watched it in segments so it wouldn't feel repetitive)... and like any great documentary it opens your eyes (EMPIRE: "this offers a profound insight into the power of comedy to both heal pain and challenge censorship")
Anywho, I suppose you could say this film changed my life, as me and my friend frequently improvise our own versions of the joke to each other. That said, the last time I told the joke it was the most offensive I'd done and there was a falling out. Word of advice: never include real people in the narrative...
