Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

#1 Post by a_person » Fri Jun 19, 2009 6:16 pm

Adolescent wizard-in-training Harry Potter returns to Hogwarts for another year of schooling and learns more about the dark past of the boy who grew up to become Lord Voldemort in this, the sixth installment of the film series that originated from the writings of author J.K. Rowling. There was a time when Hogwarts was thought of as a safe haven, but thanks to Voldemort's tightening grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds, that simply isn't the case anymore. Suspecting that the castle may even harbor an outright threat, Harry finds his investigation into the matter sidelined by Dumbledore's attempts to prepare him for the monumental battle looming ever closer on the horizon. In order to discover the key to Voldemort's defenses, Dumbledore enlists the aid of resourceful yet unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, who may have a clue as to their enemy's Achilles' heel. Meanwhile, teenage hormones cause the students at Hogwarts to lose focus on their true mission. As Harry and Dean Thomas clash for the affections of the lovely Ginny, Romilda Vane attempts to woo Ron away from Lavender Brown with some particularly tasty chocolates. Even Hermione isn't immune from the love bug, though she tries her hardest to suppress her growing jealousy and keep her emotions bottled up. But there is one student who remains completely aloof from the romance blossoming all around, and he intends to leave a dark impression on his classmates. With tragedy looming ever closer, it begins to appear as if peace will prove elusive in Hogwarts for some time to come.

Harry Potter star had swine flu.

Rupert Grint had to be quarantined from the set of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows after he contracted swine flu.
Grint, who plays Ron Weasley, is recovering from a "mild bout" of the disease, according to his publicist. He is believed to be now well enough to return to the set of the last Harry Potter movie, and will also attend Tuesday's world premiere of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in London's Leicester Square.
His publicist added, "He has now recovered and is looking forward to joining his fellow cast members.
She added that Grint was fully recovered and was at no risk of affecting others.
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is released on July 15.

Free screenings unlikely, don't you think?

I've just booked tickets to go and see it at the IMAX in Manchester and I'm looking forward to it. I'm not expecting it to be a brilliant film but I've been kept well entertained by the last few films (the first two were dire) and I'm a bit of a Harry Potter fan so I'm sure I'll enjoy it. I've never seen a proper film at an IMAX screen either so that will be good.

I heard that the initial screenings for the first version of the film got slated and they had to go back to the drawing board and even reshoot some of the scenes as fans were not impressed. So they must have sorted out the teething problems, as the release date for this film had also been put back several months.

Glad it has now been happily accepted. Even though I have not read any HP books (not my type of reading genre) I am more than willing to watch the films.
Preferred cinemas: All Central London: APOLLO Piccadilly, EMPIRE Leicester Sq; ODEONS: Leicester Sq/Covent Garden/West End/Whiteleys/Panton St; VUE: West End/Fulham/Islington, CINEWORLD: Haymarket/Shaftesbury Ave; Brixton Ritzy,
Then: Westfield, o2, Clapham

The books are worth a read, I found it a struggle to get through the first two but after that they're really good and I was hooked.

I can't wait until next Friday!

Harry Potter star in drug charges.

Harry Potter star Jamie Waylett has been charged with growing cannabis at his parents house.
The teenager, who plays bully Vincent Crabbe in the hugely successful franchise, was first questioned by police in April after they allegedly found eight bags of the drug in his car.
Police then raided his mother's London home, where they are said to have found more of the Class B drug.
A police official said, "He is charged with producing a Class B drug, namely cannabis."
Waylett, 19, was absent from last night's London premiere of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.
He will appear in court next month.

Will he be expelled from Hogwarts?

I am really looking forward to this one....my kids are hugh HP fans. My only worry is that my youngest who is 6 may be a little scared by it! He was quite scared by the last one, so we are in two minds whether to take him to this one of not.....or maybe wait for the dvd so we can press fast forward on the scary bits! lol xxx
