The 9th Sci-fi London Film Festival was taking place at the Apollo Picadilly Circus from 28 April to 3 May, and I attended their two free screenings. The first was Daleks Invasion Earth 2150AD on Sunday at 11am. The screening room was fairly full and they were doling out free icecream in the lobby! Thanks to bevvy for letting me know as I hadn't noticed these were free! They had Strawberry, Ginger and Cappuccino icecream as well as Passionfruit Sorbets which I had two of and which were so yummy! The film is one of the really early Dr Who films, and some of the stuff just made you laugh because it is so old-fashioned. All the background buildings looked like cardboard cut-outs, and you got the obligatory bit in the car against the green screen, where, if they really moved the steering wheel that much around, they would end up in the ditch. And how frightfulleh posh was Dr. Who's accent! 7/10
Today at 12 noon I watched Minority Report in the same screening room. They had run out of free icecream but the film was excellent, and I couldn't understand why the room was so much emptier than the day before! 8.5/10
There was also a free quiz taking part in the afternoon, but as I know next to nothing about sci-fi films, it would have been pointless!
So I have managed 50 films now...
