Beate wrote:This film shows us how every year flamingos from all over return to the Natron Lake in Tanzania to mate and rear chicks. The landscape is stunning and the story very interesting, with the added cutesy factor of the flamingo chicks. I had never seen flamingos land or take off just like planes before, using their legs to slow down or speed up, or do a mating choreography worthy of any ballet dancer. It is however not quite as thrilling or funny as the March of the Penguins was, and the narration is sometimes over the top poetic, with music swelling and another gorgeous landscape shot thrown in for good measure.

7.5/10
Wait, the aliens are flamingos?

Yeh, District 9 was good.
A little, independence day, a little 28 days later, and a little cloverfield. great action and a really surprising film, but the end was just not good enough for me. You'll probably see what i mean.
Best thing about it was its originality, oh and the male lead was incredible. worth a watch i think!

Loved it! We seen this last night. The beginning was a bit slow but the build up was good. I'd say a sequel is on the cards but I'd be happy to go and see it. The effects were so well integrated that you forgot about them and focused on the story. Go Christopher Johnson!

People keep telling me that - forgetting the aliens - this film is more about the politics and the Apartheid in South Africa rather than full on Sci-fi. (hence the choice of location)

Is this true? If so, I might be able to convince my girlfriend to go. ;o)

I love watching sci-fi films and really enjoyed this as it was so different to what I'd seen before. By telling the aliens story the film commented on the politics of south africa and aparthied, well worth a watch imo for this reason alone

I really enjoyed it - an example of an action film done right...

I saw this last night (not my choice) and it was a bit gross in places... really gross actually... nearly put me off my popcorn a few times!

Overall not a bad film. I'm not usually into alien films but this was fine - bit disappointed by the ending... I expect I'm going to have to see the sequel if only because OH will want to and find that I'm not overly dreading it.

Definitely a boys' film...
